Re: had the buns
So completely unnecessary. I bet the supermarkets are starting to stock fireworks in the run up to Halloween and Bonfire Night. I just think they should be banned.

Re: had the buns
There was a time fireworks were sold for the 5th November 'Guy Fawkes Day' but now they are sold for Halloween, New Years Eve and even some people let them off at Weddings.
Each year children and adults get hurt and end up with horrific burns or worse lose their life and endless animals suffer some at the hands of sicko's who tie fireworks to the poor creatures. Every year I print out flyers to put in shop windows asking people to check their bombfires before they lite them in case of sleeping hedgehogs. I have signed no end of petitions over the years to ban the sale of fireworks or at least keep them to organised displays on the proper day but nothing ever changes.
I hate November 5th as well because I had to have my horse after 22 years put to sleep in the stable yard and it was such a sad night for me as I felt my world had come to an end and the dream was over and all around me fireworks were going off and people cheering and laughing in the back gardens of their homes. That was 24 years ago but on November the 5th it all comes back to me as it's a constant reminder of one of the saddest days of my life

Re: had the buns
I hadn;t thought about it but yes, we are in the "bers" npw aren't we? Bonfire night isn't that far away, I agree with you Nikki love, they should be sold to organised venues only.

Re: had the buns
My parents unfortunately live next to a brook, all year round (not constantly but where they live is very mix cultured so there are a lot of different celebrations that go on all year round) there are idiots letting go of fireworks under the bridges because of the extra boom they make. God knows what the wildlife think to it but my parents old dog used to get really scared by it, it was horrible. Thankfully Bebe hasn't got a care in the world but I can imagine it's still not pleasant for her ears!

Oh Rachel love, I bet you feel like going out and giving them a good slap, I would. I don;t suppose the police have been much help either.

What hudad finds really annoying is that it is illegal for them to be used for displays and such like except for certain times of the year without a licence and even then only within certain hours. Yet certain religious strains have a free hand to use them whenever they like for weddings, etc. with no restrictions on the hours that they can use them. On several occasions he's known them to be in use constantly for whole weekends and no-one can do anything about it because it's "a part of their religion". What a load of chocolate truffle!

It does get you like that, but as it's my parents house I would hate to make them a target so I keep my mouth shut. The police don't seem bothered unless it's a danger. There's a police station about a 1 minute walk away from the bridge (I don't know distances ) but it's never caught their attention!
I really don't understand how people can say fireworks are part of their religion, I'm sure there would be other ways of still celebrating a religious festival without unneccessary fireworks, or just to use something less harmful to wildlife as an alternative..

Re: had the buns
Fireworks drive me insane, let alone the poor animals! Our dog who was PTS a few years back used to be a nervous wreck on bonfire night. She would shake and run from room to room ALL NIGHT. The one time she actually got in the bath and hid in sheer desperation to get away from them.

It would feel very good! I agree that it is a danger, but I get the impression police are busy and unless it's causing damage they won't (or maybe can't in the eyes of the law) do anything about it as there's plenty of other things unfortunately to keep them busy!
