some questions about neutering
So Hector will be 12 weeks on the 2nd of october, from what I've read this is generally the age that his balls will be making their first appearance to be swiftly removed shortly afterwards
What should I be doing? Do I check for his balls? If I do how do you check for them? Should I book him in to have them removed the friday after he turns 12 weeks, or should I just wait until I see the balls then book him in?

i know the vets normally do it from 17wks and they have to be a certain weight too,i would phone the vet and ask them what age they do it from and go from there, they may do a pre-op check

Just turn him upside down in a rather undignified manner and look in the groinal area - they're normally pretty easy to spot once they have dropped (depending just how fluffy he is down there).
I'd probably go to 16 weeks or so, just to make sure he is a decent weight. Unless he starts getting teenage hormones sooner...

Just keep looking, you won't mistake them for anything else.

Re: some questions about neutering
I had Junior done at a little over 12 weeks and he was absolutely fine. He came home, did a huge pee, a pile of poos, munched some hay and had a loooong sleep. The next day, you wouldn't have even known he'd had the op!
I had to have him done as early as possible because I had the worry of him and Molly producing baby bunnies If I hadn't had that to worry about, I would have waited a few more weeks
