I feel like a mean bunny mummy :(
I feel really mean. I've just realised that there is no way for Willow to binky anymore.
I have laminate floor down in my room which she copes fine on hopping about, and whenever she needed to get up speed and have a mad session of binkying and bunny 500's she would get on the bed and do it where she could get some grip. Obviously she's not longer allowed on the bed, so how on earth can she binky anymore?!
I don't want to stop my baby from being able to display her natural behaviours but we really cannot afford to carpet my room at the moment. Would a cheap rug be an option?
Feeling super mean now, and just as I was so pleased at her new cage

Re: I feel like a mean bunny mummy :(
I hate to break it to you, but there will be no way of keeping Willow off your bed for the bunny 500 in the long run. Just close your door and lock it if you can. Willow is 'not staying on your bed' nor is she 'sleeping or playing on your bed'. You catch the subtlety in the wording.

Ok guys panic over. The little madam got on the bed and had a mad binky session this morning, I just chased her off when she was done. Think everything is fine

We buy cheap carpet runners and mats and put down for buns that can't walk on laminate, and just roll them up and put away when we are not using them

Re: I feel like a mean bunny mummy :(
can you not get a few new black bin bags and lay them on your bed and put a sheet over the top all tightly tucked in when she needs some bed play time that way if she has an accidental wee only that sheet gets dirty

Re: I feel like a mean bunny mummy :(
We have this rug for daisy.
They are brilliant! They are not the prettiest but they are BIG (we had the 180 x 230 size), they are rubber backed so perfect for not slipping under a binky, and best of all - no matter how hard daisy tried he could not pull the threads out. oo and also - the pile is twisted over so less likely to give carpet burn. They can also be put into the washing machine.
Have a good shop around as some of the sellers are more pricey than others. I think they are sold on amazon.

Re: I feel like a mean bunny mummy :(
We are doing my room up at the end of October so am going to be buying a floor rug then which will cover a lot of my floor. In the mean time I'll let her onto the bed for a quick binky session (I can always tell when she's going to, she gets a look on her face)
Rob, we did buy a plastic sheet. It was only a cheapo one from Amazon and she destroyed it with her nails in one night. Also, she just peed and pooped ALL over it. It was really gross even though it hadn't gone through onto my bed. I'd rather just let her on there when I can supervise and shove her off when I know she's about to pee. The little madam looks directly at me sometimes as she raises her tail and goes all over my duvet

aww can't get mad at her can you even when she's watching you as she does it
maybe she's saying you think it's your bed but actually it's my circuit but allow you to think what you like but give me the fenugreek crunchies and it's all good

Re: I feel like a mean bunny mummy :(
Have you thought of putting a litter tray on your bed.
daisy used to insist on peeing on the sofa.....at one stage we surrounded it with fencing and covered it in plastic but he was determined that was where he wanted to pee so we did this.
We put a litter tray on the sofa. He used it........
We moved the tray a couple of inches every day to the edge of the sofa.....then onto a box next to the sofa..... and then onto the floor.
Took about 3 weeks to do....but it worked in the end. He stopped seeing the sofa as the pee area and started seeing the tray instead.

Re: I feel like a mean bunny mummy :(
I know the feeling, I have the same problem with Nibbler in our new flat as the only place for him to run around is the bedroom as everywhere else is hard floor, and as the bedroom isn't that big he ends up running around on the bed. Left me a nice present on there on Saturday morning, but I put that down to being my fault as I wasn't watching him. I just supervise any play he does in there. Although a rug will be the ideal solution in the future, for now I'd say you can comfortably watch her and catch her before any accidents happen

Re: I feel like a mean bunny mummy :(
You said everything I was thinking Rachel! The rug will be in place by the end of October, and until then I will have to supervise play, and may have to invest in a slightly more substantial plastic sheet for when I can't be in there watching her 24/7!
