May I please have some advice? Empty May I please have some advice?

Post by jolovesbunnies Tue Nov 13, 2012 2:38 pm

Hello my friends, I wonder if I may have a little advice. My bunny Binky Boo has just been treated for fleas and he has a couple of rough patches on his back. However there are some horrid white things which I thought were mites in his fur and having spoken to the vet, it seems I was right and we are going to treat him with a course of Xeno spot on.

I also wondered if there was a flea and mite comb any of you could recommend. I have a steel comb which I do not want to use because as gentle I am, he didn't like it so I am hope that there are some out there which aren;t made of steel.

Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Love and hugs

Sorry. I also meant to ask if I should bath him first, I do have some bunny shampoo.

Many thanks and lots of love.

Any Flea comb will do Jo Pets@Home do one they are about £6 http://www.petsathome.com/shop/small-flea-comb-by-mikki-15592

or you can get cheaper ones like this http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=130&pf_id=61447

I wouldn't bath him unless the vet said to as the Xeno spot on should kill them.

Found this thought it may be of help to you Jo Smile

Oh darlings, thank you so much for your kind replies and for the information links. The vet didn't recommend a bath Tuckerbunnies love so I think we will leave that one. They are out of stock of Xeno until Friday which is really helpful but I must be honest when I say I think they are bothering me far more than they are Binks.

No Fiver love this is new to me too, I have had bunnies with fleas but I have no experience of mites.

Thank you again for your kindness.

Love and hugs

I have no advice as I'm lucky not to have needed to deal with this in the past, but I just wanted to send some vibes to your little Binky. I am glad it doesn't seem to be bothering him too much and I hope it clears up quickly when you can get hold of the Xeno! Hugs

Thank you for your kind vibes darlings; Paul went back to the vet today and has bought some Xeno. The trouble is, the poor little chap cannot have it for 3 weeks because he had one on Saturday from Pets at Home, which as far as I can tell, is absolutely bloody hopeless. They have advised us not to bath him and I meant to ask Paul to ask the vet if he can have a little cocoa butter moisturiser on his bald bits to make him more comfortable. Having said that, it really doesn;t seem to be bothering him, I am going to ring and ask but any further advice would be so very welcome.

Will keep you in touch and thank you all for your kind help.

Love and hugs

JO xx

Thank you sweets, he is just the same, it doesn't seem to be bothering him but it is worrying that I can't treat it immediately.

Thank you for your vibes love and I will keep you informed.
