After a delay why we finished the old hay, we have finally opened the new bale! (http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pets/hay_and_bedding/hay_small_pets/277413)

Here is a picture of it in T&T's tray:

It is very coarse, quite green, has lots dry herby bits and stuff in it too. It smells lovely!

Here is Toffee's view:

Review - Vilmie mountain meadow hay IMAG0276

I couldn't dish it out quickly enough! She was straight in the tray and wearing it! Ted was outside the cage when I was dishing it out, and he was so excited he ran to the outside of the cage and was eating any bits that fell out of the tray while I was sorting it!

So far then, a hit Smile

It looks quite lovely! Not just straight one type of grass. Seems more 'rabbit-like' eating for me!

Ah!

I'd have no hands left then if I got this hay, I gets splinters and cut my fingers from normal hay with nothing in it! No

Is this from Zooplus? I was trying to find it online. I might get a bag and then buy a big bale of it if they like it. Its certainly cheaper than the HFP hay/

I don't know if you've had Ings before Sue, but if you have, how is it in comparison?

My two LOVE the Ings and I'd want to make sure this is just as nice for them. Mojo's never gone so wild for hay in all his life!!

I've never had it I'm afraid or I'd say how it compares. They do smaller bags too.

Well I ordered a small bag of this and I am NOT impressed.

The buns don't mind it but they don't enjoy it as much as the Ings. And my bag is literally full of nothing but super short stems - it is almost like they gave me the dust and bits from the bottom of it all.

Going to get them some more Hay For Pets stuff tonight or tomorrow. Might get them some Timothy and Rye as a Christmas treat - Willow goes mad for Timothy hay!

But will be sticking to Ings from now on I think. I might have just got a bad bag, but not wasting any more money or time to find out Thumbs Up

If you got a small bag, perhaps it was chopped smaller and finer to be packed? I know mine came as a full bale, i had to cut the strings.

Mine is a full bale, and the stems are so long it's hard to get it out of the pack!

Shame what you got wasn't great. I suppose as a natural product there is variation.

And Sophia - I love the smell of it!

Maybe the bags aren't as good as the bales then. Ah well!

I have some other stuff to keep them going until I can pick them up some more - won't get it this side of Christmas if I order online now so will have to hit the pet shop!
