The new English Lop hutches
My husband has entirely revamped my shed! Wonderful, the EL accomodation is 9ft x 2.5ft and they are loving it! The pens we had would not have suited as they lops suffer so badly from cold, they needed something enclosed, not like the open pens i had.
On top of that he insulated the shed so its extra warm, and put a new floor down
You cant see very well, but there is a non meshed bed area at the end
Foggy enjoying his space (we have 3 more to make, but the spaces are vacant just now and we ran out of cash
Jane in the top hutch, Autumn and Bunty in the bottom one. The large bunnies look tiny in the lovely big hutches

Re: The new English Lop hutches
Those are stunning hutches
Are you hoping to get the four ELs into a single group eventually?

Re: The new English Lop hutches
Oh how fantastic!! Well done hubby!!
Was it expensive or difficult to insulate the shed? Our two live in an un-insulated shed at the moment - they coped fine in -12 weather last year but it does get me wondering about doing it. It's like an oven in the summer though so makes me wonder if insulation would make that worse.

Re: The new English Lop hutches
Thank you, i am glad you approve. Apparently they look bigger in real life too, someonce came round last night that had seen the photo's and couldnt believe the size.
Dotdot, to insulate, we actally used the eftover thick chipboard that made the pen walls to layer the sides of the shed, the extra wall and thickness has worked a treat. We also boared up the roof with ply, as a lot of drafts came in through the roof, it is a very cosy shed now, and so far, no frozen bottles. The lops ears are always nice and warm too.
My issue was overheating in summer too, but we are goint to make vents covered in mosqito netting on the walls for summer, and put shutters up to cover the vents in winter
