So I gave Domino this lovely soft rug which was conveniently the perfect size for his cage. That was fine, until I gave him a seagrass matt which he destroyed - and then he started pulling at the rug where the sea grass matt had been. I think because he cant see he didnt realise it was gone! And he pulled up the entire rug Hissy

And he did this for THREE DAYS continuously. Ive now binned it and hes got boring carpet offcuts, and hes stopped now, because its not the same texture.

HBWS Thanks for sleepless nights Domino!

This sounds all too familiar.... I had to throw out my living room rug for 3 reasons Hmmm

1. They peed on it every day. (This was the issue that tipped me over the edge)
2. They were pulling the threads out
3. They could smell every little thing they ate on the rug (long after it was finished) so it was dig, chew, dig, chew, dig, chew.

Nothing to do with his eyesight IMO Laughing

Yes I've found that when we have given our's lovely fleeces they scrat and nibble at them and then they end up with horrid carpet offcuts and they love them. We put some vet bed in some of the pens for them as we thought it would be nice and warm for them to sit on and most of them pushed them in to a corner out of the way as if to say " We don't want this get it out now"! No

My two are the same - a lovely clean, warm fleece and it is dug up and screwed into a ball. A dirty, stained old towel and they will sleep on it until their hearts are content? Why do we bother Laughing

My two had a cheap rug when we lived at our old place, they ignored it. So I got them a nicer one for when we moved...they are constantly digging and chewing at it and it now has bald patches!

Dougal uses it as a way of showing his annoyance if he hasn't been fed by a certain time Laughing
