Re: A question about bonding.
poor Temperance, it was a very stressful journey!
When we took her out at the rescue she just sat there. First she met Buster. Buster is the smooshiest lop I have ever seen. White with straight down grey ears and very fluffy. They had a sniff of each other through the bars then Temperance went back over to the side of the pen and wouldn't move. The separating gate was taken away and Buster came through, Temperance still wouldn't move. It went well for a few minutes until Buster decided he wasn't interested and started jumping over Temperance and flicking his feet at her Temperance still just sat there
Then she met MJ. Temperance still wouldn't move so MJ was allowed to go in beside her. He came over and had a sniff, then wandered off. Repeat a few times, T just sitting there scared out her wits. Then he came over and started grooming her! They stayed together a while, he kept grooming her but she was still very stressed so we decided to take them home. We put them in a dog crate for the journey home. Temperance was still very stressed a she hates travelling, MJ just took it in his stride and flopped right next to her and she snuggled in.
We've been home about an hour, they have both been interested in each other but neither wanted to make the first move. Eventually Miss grumpy chops herself made the first move and gave MJ a quick few seconds groom them wandered off. Then they sat and ate hay together for a while, he got a bit more of a groom a few minutes later then she flopped and now he's flopped side on just next to him
:/ Temperance just tried to hump him, he ran away and she chased him for 2 seconds then he chased her for 2 seconds then she groomed him a bit more and now she's sitting next to him and he has his head pressed against her.
Here they are at the rescue:

Re: A question about bonding.
Good news all around then! Although things may get a little more spirited in the days to come it is really positive that they have both groomed each other. This is the beauty of taking your rabbit dating rather than making a choice for them.
MJ is gorgeous - are you keeping his name?

Re: A question about bonding.
Temperance may have had a stressful day but she'll be glad of this in the end
MJ is completely stunning (I hope it is not a bad sign that I see a hint of Daisy B in his facial expression, which is odd as they are such different buns )
I hope they both behave themselves and give you a peaceful and easy bond

Re: A question about bonding.
Mostly they are just sitting next to each other munching hay and snoozing. Temperance keeps grooming him and is miffed she's not getting groomed back. She humped him a bit again, he ran but again the chase only lasted 2 seconds. Then they both asked each other for a groom, neither groomed and they both wandered off.

Re: A question about bonding.
I looked MJ up (because I wanted to see buster as well) and found him on a scottish rescue site where it says that - 'He is a cracking wee man who needs a lady friend to love - He really enjoys head rubs/ running around and the company of other rabbits ♥'
Definitely on your head be it. For running around and company of other rabbits I am reading 'causing general havoc and generally being a bad influence'.

Re: A question about bonding.
We did, and they were fine Temperance tried to hump him again this morning when I was trying to give them breakfast (MJ is only to get a tiny amount of pellets) which resulted in a 1second long chase but they both forgot about it as soon as it was over. They are currently side by side munching hay.
MJ is not using the litter try, we thought Temperance was bad for sometimes eating the hay in her litter try with her bum out the tray and pooing round it but I went in this morning and they were EVERYWHERE I've been sweeping them up and putting them in the litter try so hopefully he'll get the message!!
He is such a weird shape compared to Temperance. His face is so wide, his nose is flat, his head is obviously lumpy because of his lop ears (which go straight out like aeroplane wings when they are 'forward' lol), his body is very round and his back legs are wide apart.
Here they are sharing hay this morning

Re: A question about bonding.
Awwww, look at them
I'm glad it is going so well
It's not surprising that he is marking his territory - that should calm down once he is settled.
Humum agrees that the lop shape takes a bit of getting used to. She thought Layla was quite plump when she first came home, but she's not - she is just round. And when she flops, she oozes She loves having her ears scratched, and the bit of her face / head around them. Lops can't clean their ears as well as uppy-eared buns can, fortunately Jack is obsessed with her ears and does it for her

Re: A question about bonding.
It is good to know that all is going well. They look very content together. On the litter tray front have you considered getting a bigger model? And remember when you sweep up the loose ones to put them in the tray so he gets the idea.

Re: A question about bonding.
Re the litter tray, I have been putting all his poos in the tray I also got a storage box before we brought him home that's about twice the size of a normal litter tray that is now the litter tray
In other news, Temperance finally got a few seconds of grooming from MJ earlier!!

Aw Temperance actually looks happy in that video! You should send a link to it to the rescue to show how they are getting on.
