Humum thinks Poppy is clever...
... because she very definitely understands, and obeys, at least two words.
The word 'no'. She loves going into the hutch-shed to annoy the other bunnies. She'll often sit just outside it for a while first. Humum can be right there looking at her, and after a while Poppy decides she is either going to go in or not. But as soon as Humum says 'no' she scarpers. This applies to other things she knows she ought not to do but enjoys - the sitting and waiting to be told 'no', carrying on if it is not said but stopping immediately if it is.
The word 'in'. She often comes out for a run around in the driveway when Humum comes home and is sorting out the other buns' fresh hay and water. But once she is told to go 'in', she does. Sometimes she has to finish what she is doing first, but she does always go in within a couple of minutes.
Well, the fact is, Humum - I know loads of words. And choose to ignore almost all of them. Which means I get to do whatever I want whenever I want.
So, who is the clever bunny now, huh?

Bruce knows lots of words but has no idea of context.
So he comes running every time Tess Daley says 'over to you Brucie' on a Saturday night.
He can't tell the difference between 'Florence!' which means treat time and 'FLORENCE!' which means stop eating the curtains!

Florence knows "out" in more than one situation. She knows "would you like to come out" as in being let out of her pen, she sits waiting by the door, and she also knows "OUT" when she's behind the TV
She knows her name, but tends to ignore it. I know she knows it because sometimes she does respond to it. I've started calling her Flossy if she's doing something norty, but she ignores that too
Dougal knows his name. He also knows the word "treat" "breakfast" and other food related words. He knows the difference between a nice "Dougal" when I'm inviting him for a stroke, and a naughty "Dougal" when he's attacking the rug. He always looks up, waits until I look away and then does it again He's turned it into a game. It also works if I'm in another room, I will say the naughty "Dougal" and he'll stop for about ten seconds then start up again.
It's a good job I love him!

Sasha watches to see at what point I will get up and chase her off the Christmas Tree/skirting boards/carpets ....... This usually progresses from 'No, Sasha' said in a calm authoritative voice, leading to my slapping the carpet and finally getting up, at which point she stops dong it She's just bad or perhaps she thinks I need more exercise.

Willow knows lots of words and openly ignores all of them - unless they involve any gain for her

Sparky love, you are a one off LOL!!
Mr Snuffles used to chew everything. When we shouted No he just stayed really still for a few seconds and then carried on. When we shouted again he would run all over the place #twisting his little tail in the air. Binky is a little better at taking notice but not much. We are both convinced that Snuffles is coming back every so often and passing on his naughty knowledge LOL!!
Hugs

Rory is acquiring a vocabulary with surprising speed. We are not learning his 'vocabulary' as quickly. I.E. the diameter and speed of the greeting 'circles' tells if he needs hay, water, food, attention or is just having a bunderful day.

Boy do you have that right Jo! Rory will make an effort to 'teach' us. It's so adorable. He will do something and if we don't respond correctly he will repeat the action more slowly making sure we are 'listening' by watching. He will patiently repeat until we either get it right or do our version of a 'circle in place with ears down looking up pleadingly' indicating we give up. I hear the laughter. We do do this! Then he gives us a 'that's OK' happy bunny feet flick and maybe a binky to thank us for trying. We love our Rory!

He sounds a little sweetheart Gentl love. If we do not respond immediately Binks will get up and start to chew whoever is sitting on the sofa. It starts off gently but each subsequent chew has a little more tooth power, as if to say "I will get my own way." I love my little bun too hun, don;t they bring us such joy?

I know Nibbler understands a lot of what I'm saying, but simply chooses to ignore. He does tend to come to me more than anyone else if I call him, but I think that's because he's expecting some sort of nom or cuddle off me if I call him. If anyone else calls him they usually get the ear movement but then he decides it's not worth the effort, haha. He definitely knows the squeak of opening the fridge door as I cannot open it without him shooting over, no matter where he is in the flat!
