Which Hay For Pets hay should we get?
Hay for pets poll.
Which of the Hay For Pets hay do you think we should go for? Molly and Junior are giving me mixed messages about the samples we got but do I know they prefer stalky hay. I learned this from the whole green oat hay hoo ha
They love alfalfa king Timothy and they will continue to get that daily but I want to find a second every day hay for them that's not excel Herbage, primarily because they don't eat the brown bits and at £5 a bag, its a waste of money.
All of the sample bags seem to have a lot of brown in them but its hard to assess with just the samples to go on.
Please vote in the poll (If it works! I've never tried this before )

I ha e voted for meadow hay as that's what mine love. I buy it from an equine store and it is always fresh. it comes from Udny so is really local.

We all love the Ings. We do love stalky hay too. Ings isn't thick stalks, but it's not a soft hay either.

All 3 of the bunnies here seem to prefer the Timothy and Rye as its stalkier. They do like all of it though

I voted Ings - my two absolutely adore it.
But, if your two prefer stalky hay I found the Timothy and Rye great for my chinchillas who also love the Alfalfa King Timothy hay.

Re: Hay for pets poll.
I did use they ings hay which Marshall did like, but he seemed to go off it after a while being a fussy bum and so we decided on a change. we now use the timothy and rhy hay and he absolutely loves it. Its all very stalky bits and it actually smells really nice.
if you are not sure .... why not buy a small bag of each and trial them on one then the other for a week at a time, then you can see which would be worth investing in.

Re: Hay for pets poll.
Is there a fussy bum box?
They liked the oat wheat and barley sample, bought them a huge bag, the rescues ended with it and me empty pockets.
Then they decided they like oxbow western timothy (as above again!)
Now they have don't like readigrass because it is harvested at a different time and a slightly different colour.
Am sure my 2 ring the bunnies up at the rescue and say " we won't eat it so that you guys can have a treat and Mummy have empty pockets"
But they do gobble the hay down that we buy in bales from Farmer Jackson!
The bunny boarding that they go to even commented on their site that they are hay monsters!

Re: Hay for pets poll.
Mine are both huge hay eaters which is just lucky and nothing I have done!
They get a sprinkling of nuggets on the hay in the morning and a little veg at bedtime. Other than that, it is hay, hay, and more hay.

Re: Hay for pets poll.
Mine prefer the Timothy Rye. Although I still haven't forgiven them for the time when they scoffed a small bag of the Ings so I bought a big bale, along with a big bale of Timothy Rye, and they refused to eat the Ings I was given "what's this rubbish" looks when I gave them the Ings rather than the Timothy Rye
