I was at the farm shop today getting some bits for the ponylugs when I spotted bags of timothy hay for sale. Its 12kg bags of compressed timothy hay and it was about £8, normally we get Alfalfa King timothy hay from PaH which is a 1.8kg bag for £8.

In the bag there are 12x 1kg blocks so I have given the buns one to see how they get on. Its is compressed as a solid block so it is taking them longer to eat, we still have plenty of normal hay left so if they seem to be struggling or not eating enough I can give them some of that.

This is the website:

They're kinda ignoring it :/ at first they were both munching but they're off doing other stuff atm. MJ is really impatient with food, he was biting and digging it but then gave up.

Bunnies next to block (I put some dried herbs on it so they'd stay still for a picture)

Ooh wow. I buy round hay cakes like that, a lot smaller, and they're £5 for 7/8 so these seem much better value!

This screams "giant hay cookie" at me.

I'm too scared to even think about the mess Molly and Junior could make with one of them Shocked Laughing

I only get my hay at the farm shop now. Its a bail for £7 never had any problems and they love it, lasts ages even keeps my niece going & her piggies love it, longer strands not choped up into tiny inch long bits, rabbits dont like the store bought stuff now & its smells funny.

I tried giving Temperance farm hay, having a horsey makes it a much cheaper option but she is so fussy! Fortunately the horsey isn't as fussy as she is Shocked (won't eat farm hay... or even excel herbage or the like but she'll eat carpet, rubber, cardboard and plaster off the walls Rolling Eyes )
If you can buy straight from a farmer its about £4.50 a bale but probs not worth the hassle if one lasts you a while.

Thats exactly what they are! I had actually hoped they'd be tidier than normal hay... WRONG Rolling Eyes
