Flopsy likes the critical care now - Update 13/2
We were having a bit of trouble getting Flopsy to take the Oxbow critical care in the big 15ml syringe and because of the strong Liquorice aroma and taste so what we decided to do was get some organic Ella's Kitchen Apple Puree baby food and then mix it together and put it in the 1ml syringe he is use to and takes his Metacam from. Lily had a bit first to show him that it was okay and then he took it quite willingly whereas before when it was just the critical care he had to be forced. Must be making progress Still not eating great amounts of dried stuff alone but we're getting there, come on Flopsy
Thank you Maysie for the suggestion

I wouldn't Jack always give his medicines separate to his critical care and baby food mix as they will work much better for him and quicker

Its Just that Flopsy refused to take the emeprid and spits out most, was thinking if it was mixed with something else he would like it

Just draw the medicine into the syringe first and then just dip the end into the Apple puree see how that goes and let me know or even draw the medicine first and then about 0.1 mls of puree

When we were having trouble getting meds into Daisy John didnt seem to think it would be any problem mixing it in stuff.
We mix Annabelles meds in with ellas baby food. I put the medicine in the syringe first and then suck up some babyfood.

Well done Flopsy
I know that when Willow was refusing the Flagyl and Panacur we just stuck it on a couple of crunchies (divided them up) and she took it like an angel.

We don't mix the medicine with the CC as we were advised not to but everyone is different and our way's are maybe the old way's but we have always found it work's quicker given on it's own and you know for sure the rabbit's had it, as sometimes they spit the CC back out including some of the medicine.

Re: Flopsy likes the critical care now - Update 13/2
sorry its late I've just been out to the bunny shed to give meds and their nightly egg cup of pellets, I gave Flopsy his usual Metacam which he has to have twice a day which he likes then I gave him his oral Emeprid for his gut. He seemed a lot more hyper and as soon as i shook the pellet tub and he started running back and forth with lily I knew instantly he did not need the critical care tonight, I gave them the pellets and he happily ate them lets hope this continues and we can stop syringe feeding completely Ounce he is 100% back to normal we will be working on getting the fussy grumpy boy to eat more hay like his Lily

One of my Bridge buns was a nethie he passed away in July 2011 aged 11, surprising never needed a dental and was pretty healthy! He was not neutered , only vaccinated against Myxomatosis as up in til autumn of 2011 I did not know what VHD was or the real importance of company
I could never own an un neutered bun now or an un vaccinated one!

Wow that was a good age Jack , our oldest living bunny was Grace we lost last year at nearly 8 and Gypsy who we still have, Gypsy and Angel we rescued from a pet shop both had serious eye problems and they were far to young to have left their Mum never mind be for sale. Both Lionheads Angel was blind and he died in May 2010 and Gypsy is still going and lives with Parsley he is our oldest boy now
