Peeing where they shouldn't be...
Nibbler has taken to peeing on the sofa. I don't understand why he's doing it though. He did it a couple of months ago once, we cleaned it all up and he didn't do it again until a couple of weeks ago when he pretty much peed on me again, it was cleaned and nothing happened until yesterday when he peed on it twice. Every time it has been in a differnet spot, so I don't think it's a case that we didn't clean up the mess properly before. I just don't understand why he's started to do it and in all honesty, I don't want to have to go back to constantly sitting on the floor to give him cuddles as I was enjoying not having a numb bum so much! Has anyone got any suggestions as to why he's doing it or what I can do to stop it? I thought of the litter tray idea, but if each time it has been in a different spot I'm not sure how successful that would be!

I was going to say similar. Has there been any other indication that it might be an infection? Is he going more frequently? Does his wee smell abnormal (sorry )? Does he look uncomfortable when he goes?fiver wrote:has anything changed that makes him feel he needs to mark territory or maybe has a urinary infection in which casei would suggest a visit to the vets hun x

But then again, if its just the sofa....

Re: Peeing where they shouldn't be...
Nothing has changed other than that I had a friend to stay over at the weekend, but she hadn't even sat on that sofa by the time he'd done both widdles. I have had friends over before and this hasn't happened before as a reaction, and he has met this friend before...
I haven't noticed him going more often or drinking any more than usual. Tbh it's difficult to even smell his wee, sometimes it really smells of absolutely nothing Annoyingly I didn't see him do either of them but I haven't noticed him looking uncomfortable.. I'll keep an eye on him like a hawk to see if he looks any different when he's going. Both times he went yesterday there wasn't much wee to be honest, not as much as as the other two times he's done it anyway.
It really is just the sofa. He has done it probably twice or maybe three times on the bed over the two(ish) years I've had him, but I've put that down to laziness/me as he's done it either when I've been cuddling him and he's not gotten up to go toilet or it is my fault as I was a bit late changing his litter tray (I assumed that's why he did it as he's always been good with going where he should), but he had a just cleaned tray yesterday when he went on the sofa

try putting something to cover the sofa that has his smell maybe he is picking up strange scents from it and marking it as his territory

Re: Peeing where they shouldn't be...
We have had this problem with Temperance except she was quite specifically peeing on me, where I had been sitting or anything I'd been wearing left on the sofa. The only thing that stopped it was stopping her coming up on the sofa which was no ideal and I felt bad for her. Fortunately now we have MJ she is less bothered about coming up on the sofa. I hope you manage to sort something out with Nibbler soon

Rory was peeing and pooing on the bed and we started covering the bed with this thick fiberglass canvas. He stopped because he didn't like sliding on it. Hehehehe!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I'll have to try different things to see if any of them work, I don't want to not have my comfy Nibbler cuddles!

Re: Peeing where they shouldn't be...
I've been keeping an eye on him and there haven't been any more rogue accidents and I haven't seen him in a strange position when he has been going. He hasn't been on the sofa much, but when he has been on he hasn't done anything, or even gone to do anything so I don't know what it could be. The other night I failed to close his pen door properly as well so he was out all night and I gave the sofa's a good feel/smell and as far as I can tell, he didn't do anything on them.
Have got another friend over on Thursday he hasn't seen for a very long time so I'll see if he does it again when they're over!

I hope he is OK when your friend comes over love, hopefully it was just a temporary thing.
