Those of you with guinea pigs
My sister is going to get some piggies, and I just wanted some food, and toy recommendations, anything you think she should know + FluffSlave: how often do you change/wash your piggie's fleeces?

Re: Those of you with guinea pigs
I'm sure your sister will love her piggies. They're awesome pets
Foodwise it's exactly the same as buns - ad lib hay should be the majority of their diet. Mine then get a 1/4 cup a pellets each, which is seperated into two feeds. And a cup of veggies per pig per day.
I feed my girls the Burgess Excel Guinea Pig pellets and have never had any problems - they're very healthy on this. Veggies - the list is endless! The main veg I feed to my girls is lettuce (not iceburg), tomatoes, cucumber, carrots (in moderation), green beans, bell peppers and any herbs I have about for the bunnies. They also love curly kale and spinach.
Guinea pigs don't really care for any treats. The best bet for treats is dried herbs and veggies - that's what they really love. Mine LOVE Readigrass.
My girl's fleeces do fine washed once a week, but I have to spot clean them twice daily of poops. Fleece is a comfy, cheap bedding but you do have to stay on top of it and it's quite a lot of work. It's not really healthy or hygienic otherwise, but if she's willing to put in the work then I'd definitely go with fleece
Good luck to her. Who can resist a piggy face?

Re: Those of you with guinea pigs
I use vet bed for mine - same cleaning rules apply. Pigs need exactly the same floor space as rabbits - at least 6ftx3ft hutch plus run. The biggest reat you can give mine is their cold weather porridge oats! they go mad for them. They love tunnels and hidey places and are not too fond of large open spaces.

Mine used to love cucumber, and the 2 of them could decimate an entire cucumber in about 10 minutes!
