Fly season is coming. A few questions!
I have sticky fly catchers in Molly and Junior's room. They've been up since last spring/summer and have never caught a thing, but I'm wondering if I should replace them now because they've been up for so long.
They are still sticky, I know this because I got my hair stuck to one a few weeks back but I don't know if they lose whatever it is on them that is so appealing to the bugs. Does anyone know if I should? I realise a packet might tell me, but I keep forgetting to look for them when I'm out
Also, last year I sprayed Molly and Junior with fly guard. Those of you who also do it, when do you start? Is it still a bit cool? I don't want to do it yet if its unnecessary.
Thanks

They'll be find. It is the yellow colour that attracts the flys so as long as they haven't faded they'll still be fine.

I think it probably depends where you are and how many flies are around to say if it is too early or not. Myrtle was off her food for a bit when we used rearguard so I'm not using it anymore. We have also tried Xenex ultra, which works well but Myrtle started to get sensitive to it and was clearly irritated, also it has some nasty chemical in.
We have been recommended F10 germicidal wound spray with insecticide, I think it can also be used to clean hutches, litter trays, open wounds and generally repel insects.
It is dangerous to cats though (as is xenex ultra). Has anyone else tried F10?

I use F10 as I have snakes but never been a problem with the cats though have never used it in their trays however I don't see how it could be a problem as I bath my snakes using F10 soap.
