Buns with the runs
<sigh>
Got up this morning to puddles of diarrhoea in the buns' room
They are seeming fine in themselves and still eating, but lots of runny poops everywhere
Vibes please?

Re: Buns with the runs u/d back from the vet
It could be the heat but with anything like diarrhoea in rabbits I think I would get them to the vet's Sue and they will give them fluids and something to stop the diarrhoea .
Sending them both lots of Vibes xxxxxxxxxx

No, it's not very watery. Runnier than caecals, but not really watery.
They are in at the vet for 1.10.
I do not need this today.

I know the feeling Mike and I this Sunday gone were going to have a lovely relaxing day, he was going to take a brew and sit and read the papers and I was going to sit and listen to some music as we had nobody collecting or dropping off buns and then Mike ended up rushing down to the emergency vets with Rosie as she was panting like mad. So that was our relaxing afternoon gone and it cost us £184 and we won't get another day like that until August now.
Hope everything goes ok at the vet's for them xxxxxx
For you

Re: Buns with the runs u/d back from the vet
Looks like it's Toffee with the bad tummy.
The vet examined them and said the seem ok - no signs of bloating or discomfort when they were examined. While I was waiting had a sheepish-sounding text from OH telling me she gave them pear this morning and wondering if that could have caused it. I think they've had pear before with no problems, but I'll not risk it, so pear is off their menu!
They both have to have a few days of baytril, which will be great fun I'm sure!

And I've spent most of the day singing "buns with the runs" to the tune of band on the run...
Now, to do all the things I should have been doing instead of taking bunnies to the vet!

Re: Buns with the runs u/d back from the vet
We don't give our's pear for that reason, and if they are not use to it yes it could upset their tummy. We don't give apple either because of the acidity in it although Snickers has some as he is use to it.
Glad they are back home and it's nothing serious

Re: Buns with the runs u/d back from the vet
I'm glad they are ok, although I bet they take a while to forgive you for the Baytril
The pear baby food went through Taffy like water, which was good for a while as at least we knew he was not blocked up but the vet banned him from it in the end.
Vibes for T & T

Re: Buns with the runs u/d back from the vet
I've put some baytril in some baby food and they are steadfastly ignoring it. They have been told that if they refuse to take the meds the easy way they are for it!

Re: Buns with the runs u/d back from the vet
Absolutely fine - no more diarrhoea makes me feel like it was a wasted vet trip! But definitely better safe than sorry I reckon. They enjoyed the baby food in the end. Obviously I'll finish the course of meds, which I'm sure they'll enjoy!

No with diarrhoea it's always best to get them checked out if they are doing puddles of it as they can soon go down hill and sadly it then becomes serious. You did the best
So happy that they are fine.
