I found this very interesting after looking up an alternative to Ivermectin for someone who can't get it abroad.

Honey is used for so much I'm not surprised.

My nan even uses it mixed with balsamic and swears it helps her arthritis.

We need to look after those bees!!

Well we swear by Manuka honey it's brilliant for abscesses and a teaspoon a day of honey is suppose to be very good indeed
for you. Mike and I always have honey for a cold and it seems to do the trick.

We must look after the bees that's so true it's very worrying at the moment Sad

If you have allergies, taking 1 teaspoon of LOCAL honey will help you with your allergies.  It needs to be from hives less than 5 miles from you.  Preferably less than 1 mile.  My doc suggested this and it seems to be helping.

i used to have it in tea when i had a cold, it is very effective, i suspect dougal may have ear mites again so put some xeno on him, next time I will try honey. He is going in for his neuter Monday too, he gets so stressd at the vets and never been without us before. I will dread leaving him.

Whilst I am not doubting the power of honey - my concern here is about putting honey into the ear canal as it is a different situation to putting it on an abscess.

I have asked advice from Ros @ the RWAF on this one. She has said similar to my thoughts. It has to be the right honey to have enough antibacterial qualities to heal wounds. And there is no evidence that honey is an insecticide, in fact quite the opposite it is likely to attract flies. So I am going to say please don't put honey in your rabbits' ears unless directed to by your vet.
