Famous last words.
I should have known this would happen after declaring Madame Rosie the most expensive bun of the year I thought nothing would top her two dentals needed over Bank Holiday weekends and an eye infection that led to a blocked tear duct. It seems that Lady Spring has decided to stake her claim for the title
I rushed her to the vet's on Saturday night, she was fine at 5.30 but two hours later refused her tea and was obviously in discomfort. I panicked a bit as both Chris and I though her tummy felt distended. I was more reassured as the vet said she was not bloated but they kept her in as her tummy was obviously tender. She didn't poo until late on Sunday and was starting to eat on her own yesterday but the vets were concerned there was a problem with her back. They had noticed that she wasn't hopping correctly. I feel terrible that I may have missed something, she had some time on the grass on Friday and was binkying around as normal.
I was due to collect her this morning and find out more but I got a call to say that they weren't happy with her behaviour when eating and that they thought they had spotted a hook on one of the back molars. So poor Spring has had her checked under a GA. Her last dental was at the end of July Thankfully I am able to collect her in the morning but am hoping that Gabe doesn't start his humping antics given she has been absent.
Oh, and Herbie was at the vets the weekend before as he needed a dental
I love the buns dearly but bunny illness is sometimes too stressful to bear

Gabe! Behave yourself! (That won't work but was worth a try.)
Lots and lots of vibes for Spring, I hope the dental sorts her out

Re: Famous last words.
Well Spring is back home, I took Gabriel with me to her accompany her back. The little wretch ignored her completely. I guess that is marginally better than humping her She was very very subdued when I left for work at lunchtime which worried me all afternoon but she did accept some broken up fenugreek crunchie when I did the rounds when I got back at tea time. She had also produced some splatty poos. I have just given her a hefty dose of metacam and hopefully she will fancy her tea in a bit. She does seem a lot brighter than at lunch time
As for the bill - the receptionist covered the credit card machine and then gave me a folded up receipt. I will have a look after Christmas

Re: Famous last words.
See being reticent about fenugreek crunchies usually guarantees a lot more! Obviously Sparky has been in contact with advise.
Hope she is better soon = and so is your bank account!

Re: Famous last words.
Oh, bless her and you. What a nightmare!
I know all too well the feeling of "endlessness" that sometimes comes with bunny illness. With Willow she always seems to have one thing after another. I dread to think how much she's run up in vets bills over the years, but she's worth every penny.
I'm sending vibes all round

Re: Famous last words.
Thanks for the vibes, after a fraught 24 hours Spring has her appetite back - touchwood. I have been syringe feeding her and have been giving her a higher doseage of metacam than advised by the vets (but within doseage guidelines) on the basis that her mouth may well have still been sore. Some grass, brambles and dandelion leaves were finally accepted at lunchtime and this seems to have given her the confidence to eat
This has given me the confidence to look at the bill - oh dear
