Somethings wrong with floppy
Kyle notices floppy has lost weight, so brought him in to have a closer look, he is deffo far to thin, on top of that he has a very mucky bum. I have cleaned him as much as possible, put him in the dogs crate with everything he needs, will get him to vet 1st thing in morning, he shouldnt be this skinny. Will have to turn the heating down so he doesnt get to hot. What could be the cause.

Re: Somethings wrong with floppy
Looking at all the different things, nothing else seems to be showing just this weight loss, hes dirty because keeps sitting in the rain gets all messy, but not cleaning it off properly when he goes in, tried shutting them in but there going nuts thumping & banging to get the flap open. Talking to friend thats manager of local pets at home, she thinks its possible stress from this bad weather spell. The gardens been beaten & flooded on a daily basis. Will deffo be taking him to vet tho so he can have a listen to his tummy & heart. Give him a good looking over.

Re: Somethings wrong with floppy
Because I had to clean him had to keep him indoors till he dries, cant put him back out like that, probs best thing to do is keep him in till vet can see him.

Re: Somethings wrong with floppy
Yea I think you should bring her in too....if he is stressed, having her with him will make him feel more settled.
If his tummy is runny - try and persuade him to eat as much hay as possible as he will be needing the fibre. And plenty of fresh water preferably from a bowl.

Re: Somethings wrong with floppy
if he was well he would be taking his share - if he's not eating hers then she's bound to munch his up but I don't think that he is ill because she is eating his...its the result of his illness not the cause of it.
I would still bring her in.

Re: Somethings wrong with floppy
oh bless him.
Make sure he keeps eating and passing poo.
let us know how he gets on at the vets. poor guy x
if he's feeling rubbish it might be an idea to give him something to hide in too.

He just wont do anything, hope its not cancer, half of the rescues in the shop have had cancer. Floppette is very worried about him she keeps trying to play but he wont so she rests her head next to him I think she knows something is really wrong.

Re: Somethings wrong with floppy
Oh dear! It's good you brought them in and are taking them to the vet tomorrow. Sending healing vibes! Try and feed him alone so you can see exactly how much he is eating.
Vibes for you too Lynn! Sick bunns are such a worry!

Re: Somethings wrong with floppy
Starting to suspect that he was a breeding male & wasnt producing healthy kits, when we got him he was fully grown, which never occurred to me at the time, I thought he was just few weeks older, but would a breeder hold onto a bunny long if they had loads of baby buns for the shops, if he was one of the baby buns he would have grown like the other one we took in but had to take to the rescue section in shop as they were fighting, he stayed the same size, never really built up strong muscles always been fairly small compared to my other bunnies. He has appointment at 2.30. He is eating fine, popping, but is sleeping a lot & just looks like he cant be bothered/depressed, hes always been loving & full of mischief. Still loving tho, wants kisses & cuddles from mummy. He keeps leaning on floppette, shes there holding him up like she knows something is wrong she wont leave his side.

I'm so sorry to hear Floppy is not well, the poor little guy
I hope the vet appointment brings about some answers and gets him feeling better
I'm sending loads of vibes for him, and hugs to you too. I know all too well how stressful it is to see your bun not right

Re: Somethings wrong with floppy
He's dying, theres nothing they can do for him, just keep him comfortable, his weight was very low when we took him in, so she agreed he wasnt a baby, he was more likely a breeding male not looked after propely at the start, its either liver or kidney decease, so the loss of 20 grams has pushed him further, his tummy is working fine, no virus as others are fine plus its only weight loss that hes has, he isnt cleaning himself as hes to tired, to give him critical care to try help his energy, all can do is wait till we feel hes to ill.
