Can Hector have Pear sticks?
The site I normally get his apple sticks from is sold out but they have pear sticks, so I was wondering if those will be ok?

That should be fine
I get fresh apple sticks from my grandparent's garden and I bake them in the oven before giving them to the fluffs.

I've not tried pear sticks, I have given small pieces of pear though.
If I have fresh apple sticks I give them without baking - is it bad to not bake them?

In our old, old house we had both an apple tree and a pear tree, and I have to confess I never dried the branches/sticks, and always just gave it to them!

I was confused by this also as I'm sure nobody cooks them for the wild bunsKatieb wrote:I have given mine both dried and undried no problems :-)

Re: Can Hector have Pear sticks?
We have two apple trees, they are only a couple of years old, quite small and in pots. We got our first apple (just the one!) last year.... luckily the buns haven't discovered these trees...yet!
My dad has a pear tree so I will have to get some pear sticks too!

I bake them more so for the chinchillas than the rabbits. Chins should be on a totally dried diet and the sap inside can give them upset tums

We are lucky. Have got 3 Apple trees and 1 Walnut tree in the garden. I have given fresh branches without baking and had no problems. Just wonder wether the bake them because they were previously treated of some kind.
