Need help with Rory!
I went to give Rory his apple slice tonight and he didn't want it. He then let me pick him up and hold him, which is not normal behavior for him. With Holly in skilled nursing, i don't know what to do right now. She doesn't have a phone so I can't call her. Any suggestions? I know I need to get him to the vet, but it's 1:30 AM here on a Saturday morning and I don't know when i can get him to a vet.

Re: Need help with Rory!
Hi Ed,
Is he showing any signs of drooling? If so it may be his teeth.
Has he done any poos recently? Are they smaller, darker, harder? It could be s low down of his digestive system.
Is his stomach bloated or hard? We have this article on stasis which may help you work out if this is a problem for Rory - https://happyhoppers.forumotion.co.uk/t14490-gastro-intestinal-stasis-causes-symptoms-treatment
Bruce will sometimes worry himself into gastric troubles which may well be what Rory has done with Holly away. You do need to get him to a vet, but it may be that all he needs is some pain relief and some meds to settle his stomach and he will be alright. However I do feel the need to stress that if he is refusing all food then this is an emergency situation and you will need to get him to a vets asap. Try offering different foods and leave him in peace for a little while and see if he will eat when you are not looking.
Lots of vibes for you both as this can be quite a worrying time.

I am so sorry sweet Rory is off, I think Cherly is right, maybe he just does not want the apple and he other foods may be good to try and if not then it is a good idea to get him into the vets,
Is he eating pelltes or hay?
He is probably stressed and sad because Hollly is not there and he willl be wondering where she is, hopefully it has not stressed him in stasis like Cherly said.
Let us know how he gets on at the vets if you do take him there.
Many hugs and vibes coming your way from us and Dougal.

Re: Need help with Rory!
Update on Rory. We're back from the vet. She didn't find any signs of GI stasis, his teeth look good and there's no indications of any upper respiratory infections.
The vet thinks he may be just stressed over the absence of Holly, but she gave him a shot of reglin and showed me how to administer the other doses. He'll get two doses today and two tomorrow.
I've also put him back in his original enclosure (the master bathroom.) He has fresh hay, fresh water and some greens with baby carrots. I'll keep you posted on how things are going.

Re: Need help with Rory!
Glad Rory is ok and it's not GI stasis. He could be very well missing Holly as it's surprising how they can react to a missing person and get all stressed.
He will probably feel a lot happier as well now being back in the Master bedroom.
Vibes for Rory and some of these for you Ed

Thank you all for your suggestions and well wishes. Unfortunately, it was all for naught. Rory has passed over the rainbow Bridge. I have written about it in the Rainbow Bridge section. Again, thank you for all your support today, especially Mike and Maysie for taking an overseas phone call from a very distressed hudad (me).
