Runaround system has arrived
Yeah,yeah,yeah.
Just before I went of to work a van pulled up and it was the runaround system that I had ordered. It is still flat packed but looks huge.
Not sure whether I fancy putting it up omorrow as weather forecast is rather dull.
Will send pics ASAP.

Re: Runaround system has arrived
Exciting stuff!! I've ordered some today too as I bodged together the original set up 4 years ago and now have decided to do it properly. I've ordered the double doors so I no longer will have to stick a brick in the tunnel hole to stop the buns getting in the way during clear outs and I bought more tunnel and a mesh tunnel so I can see them darting across the garden.
The weather was rubbish today (wednesday) I hope it's better Friday when my stuff will arive.
Can't wait to see photos of your set up. I LOVE looking at other peoples set ups, I'm always building things for my buns

Re: Runaround system has arrived
Well forecast jfor our area is half decent in the morning and then more stor and rain.
As I have good weather bunnies they would not enjoy this :no
But yes I know that they will enjoy it. Really pleased with the quality of it. Very sturdy might even stand hold to Bubbles teeth.

Re: Runaround system has arrived
Watch the tunnels if you have a chewer, Vince has even chewed on my toes before whislt I was stood in the run!
Vince will chew the tunnels and it cuts his chin, I mean the end of the tunnel where it pokes through the hole in the run (I cable tied my tunnels into place). I have now boughtsome spare clover shapes and am trying to fix those inside therun so he can't get to the edge of the tunnel.
Mine arrived yesterday, so excited! All this excitment about perforated land drainage pipe!!!!
I bet you aren't far from me, it's sunny here in Bristol at the mo so I'm off outside to paint the play house......

Re: Runaround system has arrived
Hi Vince and all other Hoppers,
I lived in Bristol for more than ten years and only moved to the Cotswold because I met a lovely man who was worth to do so.
Now situated between Cheltenham and Cirencester .
Howard and I took advantage of the sunshine earlier and commenced the rabbit run into the ground or so program.
Howard's first comment was that this will take less than an hour. Guess what 3 hours later and still not finished we gave up because it started to rain/snow.
Trying to decide which one to connect to what one and how to run all through, but the mesh tunnel could go...
I need a glass of wine now and then up clearing litter trays and grooming.

Re: Runaround system has arrived
Ha ha, it takes aaaagggggeeeessssssssssssssssss to do anything where bunny housing is concerned!!
I've been 3 days on my set up now, I tried to upload some photos to photobucket but I'm having problems with it.
Anyway, most of the work is done now and Vince loves it. The girls are still trying to figure out what tunnel goes where I'm really pleased with it, I had to make a junction box to house the tunnels, I'll try photo bucket again.....

Re: Runaround system has arrived
Right, finally kicker photobucket into touch
My garden which just about fits in the whole 'rabbitat'. Excuse the muddy grass but it 'ain't half rained lately and me stomping about in my wellies hasn't helped.
The corner run which is linked from the playhouse via the junction box through a tunnel and a mesh tunnel.
Close up of the mesh tunnel. Vince loves this and as soon as I connected it, he was zooming up and down. I just happened to have the perfect sized peice of clear plastic to cover it too. I love it when that happens
Going back to the junction box towards the play house. Three tunnels fit into this. One leads to the playhouse and the other one goes around the back of the play house to the bigger run. I didn't get a photo of that run close up but you can see it in the first photo.
A closer look
Inside the play house, I re painted it magnolia and lilac. There are two windows in the playhouse and the tunnel to the junction box goes out the side window which is partial plexi glass and partial mesh to house the pipe fitting.
I still have some work to do I need to re mesh the front window on the play house and relocate the clover shapped pipe fitting to the junction box. The junction box will then house 4 pipes. I will then be able to fix a removable pipe that leads onto the lawn. The plexi glass in the door needs replacing and the whole outside of the playhouse could do with a lick of new paint to a brighter colour.
I still have spare pipe left which I can cable tie together, so I might yet extend the set up further, but for now I need to rest my poor hands which are cut and bruised from 3 days renovating their home.

Lucky Bunnies
I love that set up.
Do you keep them out all the time?
Out here in the woods I just would worry to much. Lots of foxes, dogs and other predators about. So when night falls I take them in
Rest your hands now. Well done.

Re: Runaround system has arrived
We back onto the woods and get foxes and badgers in the garden. I do leave them out all night, have done for the past 4 years and it's been ok. I built wooden frames onto the runs (trixie ones) and corrugated the roofs which fasten down to the run frames, this way I am happy to leave them out all night. The runs are heavy and solid. They tend to use the runs early evening and very early morning so I didn't want to deny them these times of the day.
I feel I need to do something extra to the junction box to offer more protection. The box is sat on a slab with a mesh bottom which is pegged into the ground and then the floor has several bricks on top of the mesh, so the box isn't going anywhere but I worry about foxes taking a swipe at them through the mesh bars. I think some plexi glass will sort that out though.
How is your set up coming along? Can't wait to see your pictures

Re: Runaround system has arrived
Only managed to set up the binky box( so big!) and connect to two pipes on each side.
Also cut the opening on the hutch for one of the pipes to be connected.
Still to do get the other pipe connected to the small apex run which Bertie loves dearly.
Connect the mesh tunnel to binky box and to another run further down. It is all situated under a lovely apple tree and no chemicals are used on this. So anything that falls down can be theirs. Also planing for a private herb garden in the binky box.
Off to work in a bit, so unable to do anything today

Re: Runaround system has arrived
It sounds like it will be very exciting for them when it is all done! I found the runaround mesh products to be a little too expensive for my pocket. I've just bought the clover doors because they fit neater than my cable tie bodge!
I bought my tunnels 4 years ago and they are still going strong, however, when you first buy them the tunnels are reasonably pliable but after time they split if you try and bend them again. I split one of the tunnels in several places trying to bend it in a different direction so I had to replace it.
I bought this stuff...
http://www.fabricuk.com/fabrics.php?fabric_type=358
... to put around the runs, because mine have wooden frames I just used drawing pins to secure it. I folded the edges and taped them down for extra strength. Leave an excess inch or so at the bottom and the rain runs off plus you can still see the buns inside.

Re: Runaround system has arrived
The buns shouldn't have very many apples and they would be prone to stomach upset from any squidy windfalls. I think the advice is only a piece the size of a pound coin per day. Also excess apple can cause mouth sores in guinea pigs so I assume it would be the same for buns. However the buns will love any applewood going spare.

Re: Runaround system has arrived
You go first.
No you go.
Not sure, this I don't know
Better you go first.......
Ok. Took the 10 minutes to go through mesh tunnel forward and backwards loving it.
Took about
One hour for Bubbles to be brave enough to go throght the pipes but the there was no holding back
Bertie seems to be anxious of the pipes. Hope he will learn and duplicate Bubbles.
If not there is an option to get another piece of mesh tunnel to connect from hutch too binky box.
Just want to give him a bit more time.
I think he got aware of his figure and weight.
Lonely brought him to a big cuddle and nose rubs .
