Bonding advice required update 03.04
Hi Folks,
Need some advice and ideas please.
Woke this morning at 6 by the noise and commoktion that came from the warren.
Found that Coffee had escaped out of his enclosure, must have jumped straight up 1.20m to achieve this and was having a fight with Bertie.
Bubbles sat shell shocked in her hutch.
Separated the two and checked and found a tiny scratch on coffee face just below his left eye. Cleaned it and looks ok now.
This was not planed as a bonding procedure and I'm unsure of how to go ahead.
Plan was to allow them to meet in the hall over the weekend with times increasing.
Don't want to stress them more as they are.
They are all eating, weeping and pooing ok, although Bertie and Bubbles spread their poo all over the room.
Update today.
Found a wound on his left leg crusted over and clean.
They were out all day despite the pollution warning and seem to enjoy themselves until the rain came along.
Bubbles is still avoid with me as she doesn't like bad weather but I cleaned the warren, not to much, and didn't realise it had started to pour it down.
Hence a spoiling dinner was seven including tiger courgette and raspberries. So all better now.
only swapping bedding and poo at present not to rush anything.
He is the easiest going bun I have ever met. Loves his food and cuddles like crazy

I'm not sure, ideally they would have been in neutral territory for their meeting. They had different plans!
Just be really patient, it can take a long time and even then re bonding might need to happen every now and then if something or somebun upsets one of them

I'm not sure about this so will leave it to the bonding experts to give you some advice.
I can send vibes for Coffee's scratch though, and hugs all round - that must have been quite a shock for you!

Bonding can take 6 months sometimes; Binky and Holly bonded but then fell out again but I think that maybe because Binky was ill. Just give them time love, it is unfortunatley a waiting game.

An update!
This morning I found that Bubbles had managed to get into his run whilst I was replenishing water bottles and dishes.
Initially a short strop but then friendly kisses. She is a little tart
Bertie sat outside watching in disgust.
As it was a lovely day here I managed to set up his run and re adjusted the little apex hutch and one of the run around pipes to it!
He loved it!!. His run is now next to the binky box so they all can have a chat if wished so.
Found the first dandelion leaves as well and this was a winner.
Will take some pics tomorrow but they seem a little calmer tonight.
I continue to rinse his eye with sterile saline and it is a little red because he scratches it. If it continues we will have to see the vet on Tuesday as I do a long shift on Monday.
I do understand that it can take time and this is not an issue for me. I just don't want them to injure themselves or get to stressed.
So any vibes are welcome
And thanks for all ideas and suggestions!

Re: Bonding advice required update 03.04
They seem very keen to get to know each other better I would just be a little careful though about allowing access to each other through the binky box/run if the wire/mesh is large enought to allow them to bite each other's noses. If there is a safe distance apart or if the mesh is small enough then this is a good way for them to learn about each other.

Re: Bonding advice required update 03.04
Here is an update from today!
Managed to keep the separated after altering the lay out of Coffees run.
Well done Claudia
All three have been out today enjoying the air and sun.
Thank you Sixer for the hint with the chatting wall.
Not knowing I have done the right thing.
The mesh is crossing over or there is about 3 cm spaces between them, so no chance of nipping or worse.

They look pretty relaxed around each other
Bear in mind that this time of year with spring fever and moulting stress, can make even the most tolerant of buns a bit more short-tempered than they usually would be. I think if you take it slowly, they might be just fine

Re: Bonding advice required update 03.04
Another update.....
After discussing with Anna I have swapped them tonight in their hutches. Lots of sniffing and curiosity whilst enjoying beetroot and fenugreek crunchies. No aggression seen. Will continue with this for the next week or so and than reassess.
Thanks for all you help

Re: Bonding advice required update 03.04
Indeed,
He managed to jump out of the pen again last night and Bertie later jumped in.
They do this by going on top of the feriplastntray cage
Which scares the heck out of me. If getting tangled in there and than scared...... Coud be really nasty. So at present I'm designing Fort Knox for them by using wood and mesh to build a proper cover and then put carpet scares on the cage. Of to Argos now to get a staple gun
