Is pumice stone safe for rabbits to chew?
I was unpacking my most recent pet order just now and putting everything on the floor as I unpacked. I'd ordered my chinchillas a huge pumice chain toy as they go nuts for it, and I turned around for a second only to turn back and find Mr Mo going nuts for it! He was scratching at it and gnawing away at the pumice, throwing it about etc. It's the only time I've ever seen him go like that over a toy
Just wondering though, is it safe?

I seem to remember it being safe but I am not 100% so would see what the other hoppers say.

Only worry would be if he was eating and chunks that fall off, but its made of natural stone [well lava] so i don't see how it would be harmful

I've also seen various responses online, but from what I can tell it's ok if he's not eating it, which I don't believe he is...
I think he's lost interest in it now anyway. It might have been a spur of the moment reaction to something new, now it's just boring

That's good then Maysie
Pumice is huge with chinchillas. Mine go potty for it, and once it has crumbled they roll in the dust that it produces. I know pumice stone is volcanic rock, and I'm pretty sure chinchilla sand is also volcanic in some way or another. Pretty interesting actually...

I know. Every time anyone sees it for the first time they can't stop laughing
I never get bored of watching it. Even now, after almost four years!
