My poorly Flopsy U/D he's made it!
I took these photos this afternoon of Flopsy and as you can see he does look poorly. :(I dread to think whether or not Flopsy will come round from his anaesthetic for his dental on Tuesday. I think it is just going to have to the risk we take. He needs to be out of pain and kept comfortable for his remaining months left of his life but without getting these pesky teeth sorted he is just going to suffer. He has gone 5 months without a dental, his last dental went well and he recovered fine. This time however he has heart disease, his heart muscles are very thick and they are not circulating enough blood to his vital organs, his liver is congested too.
I will feel so guilty if anything happens to flopsy whilst he goes in on Tuesday. I know he is in the best of hands and that all will be done to ensure that he comes round but there is always that high risk. I honestly don't have much hope that he will make it through the GA and i am starting to doubt whether he should actually go in for the dental but I can't allow him to be in pain and discomfort. :?
This photo just makes me so sad - he had wet himself here.
Lily & Flopsy - these two have such a close bond and are pretty much inseparable. They have been bonded 2 years and 10 months, Lily is only 3 and Flopsy is 7 and 5 months so they have quite an age gap. Lily will be absolutely devastated when the inevitable happens and we lose Flopsy. She has never been on her own.
Some pictures of Lily:
This was Flopsy on the 2nd of June 2013, he looks so 'well' here even though he had health issues then but compared to now

Re: My poorly Flopsy U/D he's made it!
Awww bless him he does look very poorly.
I think you have to thinks of things a different way Jack. He does need his dental - to live with that pain will give him no quality of life. If he does not make it through the anesthetic then he will have had a quick peaceful death and he will have been completely unaware.

At the moment , I just think of things both ways. He will definitely be going in for his dental, It is just whether he will come back or not.
I will feel guilty if anything happens but I will feel even guiltier if he has to endure the discomfort and pain any longer. Even the metacam doesn't seem to be getting rid of all of the pain. His mobility isn't so great either and spends most of the time sat down, he hops around like an unsteady elderly man.
I just can't face losing him. I can't admit that there isn't much more we can do. I need him and he needs me.

Aww Flopsy Bless him, you never know Jack look at Helen she is so frail and we didn't think she was going to make it and she had to have oxgen and she fitted and she has so many things wrong with her but she had her dental and she is still here just about but she's here. Sometimes they surprise us.

Re: My poorly Flopsy U/D he's made it!
I'm sending loads of vibes for Flopsy's dental
He does look a poorly boy and I totally sympathise with the position you are in re: knowing whether you're doing the right thing or not. I am going through the same thing with Willow. However, you just have to tell yourself that as long as they have a quality of life then you are. You are quite right - Flopsy cannot stay in pain and so you are trying to alleviate that for him. If he makes it through - fantastic. If he doesn't, he will have passed peacefully and unknowingly, and you can say you tried everything you could for him

Re: My poorly Flopsy U/D he's made it!
So we dropped Flopsy (& Lily) for his dental this morning.
I'm at college at the moment but mum got a call to say that Flopsy has made it through the dental and is ok! What a relief! I'm looking forward to seeing his face this evening and spoiling him.

Bless them, lots of vibes for Charlie. I hope that the outcome is positive
I unfortunately am stuck at college until 5pm so won't be back until 6:30 so can't go with my mum to collect him if you see her then say hello! Tell her you know me through the HappyHoppers forum. She should be carrying a bag of science selective and a bag of forage xx

Lily and Flopsy are so lovely - you know I have a soft spot for lionheads. I am so pleased that Flopsy came through the op OK and hope he is now safely back home with you. Flopsy is in very good hands with you - I hope he has many more months to come

Re: My poorly Flopsy U/D he's made it!
Thanks everyone
Flopsy is well this morning , he took his metacam and joint supplement and was sat cuddled with Lily in the run when I left them.
I'm so glad as to how well he's taken the anaesthetic considering all his issues. This should hopefully mean we've got many more months to come with my special boy
