George - American Cocker Spaniel - Surrey George_zpsa1129497

This is George who is an American Cocker Spaniel.
DOB: Jan 2009

George came into rescue after a baby was born and he was just to unsure around him to continue living where he was.
George was originally bought as a puppy and (by the owners admission) was extremely spoiled.
He was always fine with his owners, but was very unsocialised and did not like meeting new people.
The owners accepted this, but when the new baby arived, they realised that he could not stay as he spent a lot of time growling at the baby.
It was decided that he needed to find a new home.

As expected, when George arrived, he was very unsure and so we left him alone allowing him to approach us in his own time.
This only took 2 days and we quickly saw the soft and loving dog underneath.
Any new adopter must accept that when George first meets them, he will not be impressed.
George is a very loyal dog and once he has your trust, will allow you to handle him as a normal pet.
If the owner has grooming experience, this would be a bonus as he is not fond of the grooming parlour (once again him having to trust a stranger), but will allow his handler to primp, preen and make him look beautiful with no issues at all!
He is fine being bathed and loves the drying off bit even more - ie a big pile of towels!

George loves his walks and has a good recall. He meets other dogs when out and about very well and tends to avoid strangers rather than try to greet them.
He has eyes only for his handler.

George cannot be homed with children. He needs to go to an adult only household with no visiting children.

George can live with some dogs, but he is easily bullied, so any resident dog must be of a gentle nature.

George prefers someone to be at home for most of the day. He can be left for short periods of time, but gets upset if left for too long.

He is very clean in the home and is not destructive.

George would prefer not to live with cats.

He will need an experienced dog owner who is prepared to put some work in as he does get very upset when he loses the person he trusts.
It is very sad to see a dog so out of sorts and he will have to go through the upheaval of losing the people here and I would like the next move to be his last so that he doesn't have to go through that again, so please...only very dedicated people need apply as he may as well stay here rather than be upset for no reason.

George has been castrated, fully vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated.
Last week he had a fatty lump removed from his side and a skin tag removed from his chest. There is no further treatment for this.

A homecheck will apply and minimum adoption of £150 applies.
