Any tips? Picked up one of OHs rabbits today and he feels so so skinny. Much skinner than he has been before and after watching them i think it may be because his partner is a bit of a food hog. is there anything i can feed him to fatten him up a bit?

have been suggested barley rings? anyone fed these to the buns? i know they are high in fat but he need that right now.

To put weight on T we just increased her pellets, I was feeding her barley rings (she still get them as treats) but it didn't seem to be making much difference, although I was only giving her 3-4 a day so maybe more would have helped. I've read online of people feeding porridge but no personal experience.

If you want to try barley rings I can post you some, my pony gets them (he also gets them to help keep weight on) so I always have loads Smile

Yes, barley rings have I have heard of too, also porridge oats. I know some people feed these dry and other's don't in case they swell up inside tummies and give porridge made with water instead.

Feeding pellets designed for young rabbits is also an idea - these will be higher in calories.

I use soaked porrage for mine during the winter mixed with carrots apple cucumber and grapes also if I have any in I mix the porrage with pinapple juice ends up looking like a plate of puke  Laughing but they love it just make sure that the oats have been soaked with boiling water for around 15 min so as they can take up moisture or it will dry out the bunns stomach

If food hogging is the problem then a dog treat ball or scatter feeding is the answer. Both options stop one rabbit from being able to be territorial over the food. Just feed a bit more of it for a while to put on weight.

They are scatter fed to stop them bulling each other over food, although they can eat/drink from the same bowl once they realize they actually have enough food for both of them.

we have upped the nuggies and as we have porridge oats in the house i think I'm gonna try that first and see how he goes.

thank you all!
