Marley has a lump
I've been trying to post all weekend. My Samsung tab doesn't like the forum for some reason, and it only works on my phone!
Marley came home on Saturday. He's set up in my room, I haven't wanted to handle him much for the first few days but I spotted what looked like a bald hock, and thought he was behaving a little different. It's hard to know what is normal for him at the moment, though. When he was outdoors, I only saw a fraction of how he behaved, no doubt. He's also had so much change this year, so im not sure. It might be that he's slowing down a little or that he's now single, but he seems less active, spends a lot of time in his litter tray, not really doing anything. He has brief Binky sessions though...
Anyway, I decided to give him a proper check over, I didn't get as far as his hocks, as I felt a large marble sized, midline lump on his abdomen! It doesn't seem fixed, feels like a hernia, but can't be. I'm just hoping it's a lipoma and can be sorted, but I'm going to get him booked in today. I'm so worried.

Re: Marley has a lump
He had an ultrasound, vet still isn't sure. He said he's only ever seen a hernia in a younger bun after abdo surgery, like a spay. He thinks it could be the start of an abscess, but again, not sure. He didn't want to aspirate it, incase its intestine, but the scan wasby clear. As he's well, I can give him a few weeks and monitor it, whilst I make a decision about exploring and repairing it surgically. To be honest I've already made my decision. An abscess could get nasty, if it's intestine, there's a risk of a blockage, which could see him in a worse state, if it's left too long, adhesions could also become a problem. I'm going to wait for Dad to get a car, after selling his this weekend, and then book him in. My friend had to take me today, Mum would take him but it's 40 minutes away, I wouldn't be able to go, without getting the train home, which I can't do at the moment, due to my immune system!

Re: Marley has a lump
He's doing ok at the moment. It's still there, and he will be having it removed at some point, I just need Dad to get a car sorted! But I'm told it's not an emergency, unless he stops eating.
He seems to be settling in to indoor life ok now. He regularly escapes my bedroom to do bunny 500s of the top floor He seems to really like Rocky and follows him all over, he even tried grooming his tail.. Rocky just finds him offensive, but tolerates it bevause he poos what Rocky thinks are treats. I got up yesterday morning, the dogs followed me to the bathroom as usual, but the last couple of days they've been followed closely by Marley It's very cute. Don't worry though, they are never unsupervised!! I don't know if I should be impressed or concerned that he only poos and wees in his litter tray though!! His door is open 90% of the time and he very rare poos outside of his cage, even when he flops out on my floor through the night...

Wow - does Marley want to give some lessons to Willow at the moment. She is currently on strike when it comes to litter trays. I think it's payback for me leaving her for almost two weeks!

Re: Marley has a lump
Just seen this ... I'm not very observant, never was ... has the lump got any bigger? I sure hope it's something simple and definitley benign.
It's great that he's such a clean bun. And you seem to have a very happy, well socialised menagerie.
Do you have a Pet Taxi near you?

Re: Marley has a lump
It hasn't got any bigger but we're starting to think it may be a hernia. We weren't so sure before, as it doesn't seem to happen in older buns, or males. We will see, anyway. Unfortunately I've landed myself back in hospital. When I get out though, im going to get it booked in. I did have my grandads funeral to go to, but I'm not going now...that's another story, but I'll put my bun before a man that I barely knew.
