Artemis-Athena

Today was her first full day here. I didnt let her out into the run today, but instead let her had free run of Dillons palace. Dillon has a 3 roomed house over 6 foot long with an upstairs bunny hay loft so lots of space for her to explore and get used to lovely Dillon smells, and to also leave her girly smells in his house for him to come home to. In turn i left her hutch open for Dillon to explore.

Well, she may have come form a rough background, and have been terrified of other rabbits from her traumas, but now she has decided she isn't taking any nonsense from anyone and said there was no way Dillon was having his hutch back, it was hers now! When i opened the door to get her out, she was quite happy running round and exploring. dillon came to the door to go into his house and see who was there, but i decided it may be too much for her just yet, so held him in the door way to touch noses.. except Artemis decided to defend what she now saw as 'her' territory and tried to attack him! Poor Dillon was most put out at being seen off from his own home, so i had to get her out and put her back in her own home.

Needless to say poor Dillon wanted extra love and cuddles this evening at treat time.

Artemis is still very shy with me, she wants to trust me, but doesn't know me well enough yet. I am not allowed to touch her nose, she panics and flinches if i try. She will just about tolerate me touching her side, but is very tense and twitches and flinches with every touch. Other than that is eating well, and making herself at home.

Dillon is still busy running round showing off everytime i go near her.

Well today we had to go out all day, so i put her in Dillons hutch again as at least she has space to run around in there. Got home a little later than i would have liked as it was now dark, went out with dinner for them both thinking, this is going to be fun getting a nervous rabbit out of a large hutch i cant get into all of and that i had to get her out for dillon to go in...
Thought tactics, Dillon will be hungry, so distract him outside on his platform with dinner while i sort her out.... worked for all of 60 seconds, while she played peekaboo in and out of the 'middle room' as we call it which has no human access, only bunnies and long arms can get into it.
After this Dillon decided enough was enough, there was a pretty girl in his house and he wanted to go to bed so barged past me into the hutch and disappeared into the middle room! Uh oh,  thought, now the trouble will start as i wondered how i was going to get her out now.. then a bit of thumping, then it went quiet and i could hear movement (we know what you're doing! ) then a little girly nose appeared, and dived back in, more thumping and movement (the hussy! ) then Artemis appeared again, followed by Dillon, who didn't get a chance to get his head out of the hole as she pushed him back in for more!  Then she came out and went upstairs, while Dillon ran up and down stairs and round the hutch, stoping by me for reassurance , then up stairs again to see her and generally running round in a panic bless him.
Think Dillon thought all his birthdays had come at once! I watched them for a few minutes, all seemed good, so left them for a bit and went back about 15 mins after and all still seemed good. Will go back out in a bit and see how things are. Not sure whether to leave her for the night or put her back in her hutch tonight, but it looks like we have Bunny Love

Just been out to check on them. Dillon looks shattered, but happy, and she was a bright as ever!

Ha, yes. I remember Mr Toast O'Riley used to look like that. His doe, Truffle was a demanding lady. We called her The Slut Wiv The Scut.

Oh wow - fingers crossed that all is well and the bunnies are now settled together. I love these stories where bunnies take matters into their own paws and bond themselves

yep with Tia it was the other way round, she would grudgingly and with lots of protest give in (obviously she loved it really) but this little one just wants it. I'm guessing its her background , but poor Dillon doesn't know whats hit him

All seemed good this morning, Dillon came up to the door to greet me this morning, needed lots of snuggles and nose rubs from me as usual. Seems he still wants his mummy even if he does have a girlfriend now.

Artemis stuck her nose out of the middle room a few times and peeped at me but went back in again. Dillon came out into the run and I sat the other side of the run and watched for a while to see if Artemis would come out. She wasn't quite sure if she was brave enough, kept coming to the door, sticking her nose out and waving it up and down and watching Dillon, but wasn't brave enough then to come out to play. I have left them to it for now and will go back to see them later. I have confidence Dillon's influence will calm her down in time and between us he and i will gain her trust more.

She had a lovely day in the run yesterday and again today. She has really enjoyed running round exploring and seems to have made herself right at home. She desperately wants to be friends, and is very curious, but is just a little too scared to let herself go just yet. Dillon showed her today how he sits on laps and has cuddles, and she watched with interest!

when i went out with treats tonight she was the first one out of the middle room to greet me, then ran back in and sent Dillon out, who promptly proceeded to scoff the apple leaving the cabbage for her!

Dillon seems to be getting used to the idea that she has moved in with him. He isnt complaining, but still doesnt really understand why, but hey, who cares she's beautiful and she wants him! As long as i am still there and he can still do his mummy things he says he is happy.

she has settled in so quickly. This is the quickest i have ever had a new one settle in.

to me she is easy, she gets on with life without drama at all. I open up in the morning, she comes out when she is ready, and so far, she puts herself in in the evenings. She was obviously ready for this step in her life bless her.

I still cant get near her, she comes close to me on her terms, and i try to spend a bit of time most days just sitting in the run with them letting her come up and look at me, but she will come round in time.

I am so pleased that things are going so well love and I think it will be no time before she comes up to you, she obviously wants to.  I think you are going to get a lot of pleasure from these two bunnies in the future.

Yes Jo, she really wants to be friends and will often come up to me but runs off again. I agree, it wont be long before she gains confidence, she is so lovely and sweet natured, ive had some b****y bunnies in the past and she isnt.

Imagine how you will feel love when she first comes up to you and doesn't run off.  There isn't a feeling like it.  I would really love to know when that happens.

She was obviously just so ready for this step in her life, its amazing how quickly she has changed already.

Artemis is a digger i can see we are going to have some fun here (not)

Neither Dillon or Tia were diggers, but Tias previous partner was and others before her. Trouble is, under the Island in the middle of the run is a legacy warren network
