Some very sad news
I had a text from Katie a little while ago asking me to let you know that Annie was helped to the bridge at home this evening.
Katie, I'm sure I can speak for us all when I say Annie was such a lovely bunny, who always looked so happy and comfortable in her world. She and Charlie landed on their paws when they came to live with you.
I'm so saddened by this news We are all here for you, when you are ready
Sleep well, beautiful Annie. You will be very much missed xxx

Re: Some very sad news
So very sorry to read your heartbreaking news Katie.
Pleased for you that you managed to get time at Christmas and New Year with her before you had to say your goodbyes.

I know you will not be ready to take comfort from this, but... she has only gone ahead, she is waiting for you

Re: Some very sad news
Thanks for your kind thoughts everyone.
We miss her terribly already.
I got home from work yesterday and I could see that she had had enough, I think she was starting to be in pain and she was disoriented and off of her food. As horrific as making the decision was, the thought of her being in pain was more awful.
Over the past few weeks she had developed around 12 tumours on her skin, the biggest being beside her nose, and John said that it was highly likely that they would be internal too. He was right of course as over the last week or so she began to change shape, her spine became more prominent and since sunday I suspected she was having trouble getting comfortable. She hadnt been outside and in the 4 years Annnabelle has been mine she has never once not wanted her dinner.
So at 7pm last night we had a local vet come to our home and she slipped away very peacefully in my arms with Matt stroking her ears (which she always loved). We took her out to the bunny shed so that Charlie could see her as I wanted him to understand, which I think he did, I also wholeheartedly beleive he understood how poorly she was as he was never more than a foot from her side, not even leaving the bunny shed without her.
As you can imagine she has left a massive bunny shaped hole in our hearts and none of us really know what to do without her.
I will do her a tribute in a couple of days when Im able to.
But in the mean time....
Goodnight my beautiful girl. You had the most gentle heart of any soul I have ever met. We miss you.

Oh darling, I am so very sorry for you, we all know what you are going through. She was a lucky bunny to have you for a mum and she will be waiting for you and having a lot of fun at the Bridge in the meantime. Lots of loves and cuddles are on their way sweetie.

Re: Some very sad news
Oh poor Charlie, his little heart must be aching
What have you tried him with? MJ was the same when we lost Temperance, the only way we could get him to eat was to sit right with him and he wouldn't eat pellets at first but he would nibble on some fresh herbs and fresh forage.
I hope he starts eating soon, its so hard, they are such sensitive souls

Re: Some very sad news
He really is. I've syringe fed him twice and he's been in the house with me all afternoon so he's distracted.
We've tried all of his favourites, and nothing is tempting him. Tried hand feeding him too, he just takes it and throws it.
He's getting lots of love from us but we're not Annie :-(.
It's absolutely breaking my heart.

Re: Some very sad news
That's awful. He's hurting just as much as you are... poor wee boy. I'm afraid I can't suggest anything other than what others have. I've been fortunate in never having to deal with this. When Clawed lost her mate, Mr Starbuck, she never grieved like that. She had myself and Misty dog already when Starry came along and she just went back to us.
I do wish I could help.... is he still able to get her scent in important places?

Yea her scent will s be In the shed. I have changed things like put new straw and hay I the snuggle boxes but I haven't scrubbed them out. I didn't want to get rid of her scent all at once.
We are still missing her terribly, although Charlie has started to nibble a little more than he wAs x

Re: Some very sad news
The poor little love. You just want to hold him and make it all go away. Lots of prayers being said for he and you and it breaks my heart to hear that he is grieving. I hope he starts to eat properly soon.

Re: Some very sad news
That's good he's starting to eat. I hoped there was still her scent there ... it fading naturally could be the best thing. We know they understand so much and have deep emotions and these two things make loss so terrible for them, and for us watching their pain.
keep on nibbling Charlie boy.
