Sad news...again Empty Sad news...again

Post by Indie22 Sun Aug 07, 2011 9:00 pm

I havnt been on in a while. I feel I only bring sad news now but its just a good place to write it all down and clear my head up too. This year I have already lost my shepherd, Woody in February, Dylan one of my rabbits in May and was speaking about how we expected to lose 2 of the cats from a rare genetic illness. We are at about 17000 in vets bills between 5 cats (thankfully insurance) and all we know is they have a rare genetic auto immune disease and the only thing we know for definate is that its terminal. Well in the last 3 weeks they last 3 cats have gone down hill fast. We were suspicious and had them all scanned to reveal the same scans on each cat. Alfie and cody have been ill for 2-3 years and are only turning 5 this week. Lou has always had upset stomachs but is now becoming senile at the age of 3 because it affects the brain too. He went blind for 3 days, has had accidents and is acting very odd. Wiggles is in pain, sleeps all day. Squashes her eyes shut, trembles and twitches in spasm and arches her back while shes sleeping. Noah has had accidents, he yowels before he needs the toilet so hes sore before he goes and sometimes I just take him there, he sleeps a lot and sometimes he wont even get up at the usual times he has bounced about wild for his 2 years. He breathes so slowly at times you think he has stopped. The time has come to call it a day. Definately for cody alfie and wiggles. We think the best thing for them would be to all go at the same time because as we know it is terminal I cant let noah watch his mum, dad, auntie and uncle die just for me to spend a few more weeks for him while he goes down hill with the stress. The unfortunate thing is that all this happens .....Tomorrow! Alfie, Cody and Wiggles will be put down tomorrow with a high likelihood we will lose all 5 of our babies. I love them all but Noah means the absolute world to me and I seriously dont know what I will do without him. I feel relieved he wont have to go through the pain that Alfie and Cody have but guilty that I am putting him down before he feels hes very ill. Completely screwed up and think I just needed to write it all out. Heres some pics

I have had cats all my life, paddy and simba till I was 15 then this group. Theres always noah on the bottom of my bed, he always talks, he knows more commands than some dogs and always answers back, the house is gonna be so empty with no one greeting you from work or cuddling in when your upset or eating things they shouldnt be and running you ragged.

We are going to have them sedated and the vet is coming out. All the prodding and poking for so long has them scared witless. Then an organisation is coming to collect them and take them for a group cremation if all 5 go.

Thank you so much. I have never had noah away from me since he was born. We bred him here in the house and I have been with him on any vet visits. It will hit me more tonight as we have our little bed time routine. This year we have went from 2 dogs and 5 cats to 1 dog! The house is sooo empty. We will try and clear the cat stuff tomorrow, scratchers etc. I will add some pics we got today.

I went to the shop to get their fave. Baby food rice pudding.

I love them all so much but I picture Noah and wanna change my mind and tell him to get up. If he was alone and ill he had more time but I couldnt let him lose his whole family just to come to the same end.

I remember years ago when thumper was really ill and i was terrified at the thought of putting her thru surgery, my dad called me from his work and had a word in my ear. He said that I had to stop thinking of my feelings and put what was best for her first. (I was only in my teens at the time)

Every animal owner must put the welfare of their animals before their own feelings. This is EXACTLY what you did, a very brave and selfless thing.

I only hope if I am ever put in a similar position that i can do what you did.

I'm so sorry for what has happened Hugs
