ULTRA VIOLET LAMPS
Anyone used one, or know of their use with arthritic rabbits?
Reboot saw the local exotics vets yesterday, who is at the old practice I used to go to. He is a very good vet and has loads of experience. He recommends that I set up an Ultra Violet lamp for Reboot. I have no idea where to begin with this. I've spent a few hours on Amazon but there are so many variations and set ups.
Can anyone help?

Sorry sweetie, I have never set one up. I know how confusing things can be when you look them up on here. There are so many versions you don't know which is best for your purpose. I do hope you find one hunni.

Re: ULTRA VIOLET LAMPS
Uses UV light for fish tanks but not for furries,
With the fish it was built in with the filter.
Have you asked the vet who suggested it what set up you need and how to use it?

Re: ULTRA VIOLET LAMPS
Will be consulting with the vet on Tues. morning. He is our local exotics specialist, a very good vet now near retiring age and only working one and a half days a week ... because he is so good they won't let him retire and keep his interest with difficult cases, which Reboot is starting to be.
Hopefully we can sort his problem very soon. His bloods came back on Fri. but there wasn't a vet available to discuss them with me so I'm hanging on to till Tues.. The nurse I spoke to said there were a couple of things that showed up on his bloods but she wasn't qualified to discuss them, even if she was sure of what they meant, which she wasn't.
I know I can get a heat lamp set up which involves a stand, light holder that can hang or clip on the stand and a bulb. All are bought separately. I need to know what strength of bulb to get, how far to distance it and how long to use it for. I hope to set it up and use it while he's having his afternoon nap.

Re: ULTRA VIOLET LAMPS
I think you are wise to wait until tomorrow hunni especially as this vet has a great reputation and a lot of experience. How is the little chap? I am not sure about lighting for furries I know when I was married the first time our tortoise had one but then again, he isn't a furry. My Ex was very clever with things like that and I never had to worry. I hope you find the right one for him hunni.
