How are we all doing in the heat
My house, being in a wood is pretty cool so Reboot and myself aren't suffering. But how are you all coping ... especially those with fur coats?

Re: How are we all doing in the heat
It must be wonderful living in a house in the woods Woodwench hunni, that sounds the sort of thing I would love.
I am OK as I am keeping out of it and the babies are managing to stay cool. I do keep checking on them in case anyone overheats but this place is pretty cool anyway and they just don't move around as much. I imagine it is lovely and cool where you are love, lots of trees for shade.
Hugs

Re: How are we all doing in the heat
Yes, I keep the curtains closed. But it's still cool, except upstairs which is oven hot. I don't really need to but I use a fan in the sitting room to keep my feet cool (I get awful hot feet). Boots likes to catch a blast of the fan, in fact I think he could become a fan junkie given a chance.

Re: How are we all doing in the heat
Our house is low 20's during the day, today it reached just under 25. The buns have their cool mat and I think they've had time to acclimatize as they seem happy enough.
ME on the other hand! In my office it was TWENTY NINE DEGREES today, we don't have air con (well we do but it isn't working) and thats with ALL the windows open
Second time its got that hot recently, really too hot and very uncomfortable in the office.

Re: How are we all doing in the heat
I remember when I worked in an office and it was hot, it was unbearable sweetie. I hate the heat anyway as you now and I would go home at lunchtime for a cold shower. You felt just as bloody hot five minutes later. People shouldn't have to work in these conditions.
Much cooler here today I am glad to say but another heatwave is on its way.

Sadly I work an hour away from home so can't do that
On the plus side (well kind of but not really) we are back to typical scottish summertime today, when I got home a couple of hours ago it was 11 degrees outside and it is POURING and very windy. The plants are happy anyway! The small trees on our street haven't been fairing too well, some of them have no leaves left at all as they've all dried up and fell off (its like autumn with all the leaves on the ground!) Hopefully they still have time to grow some more!

Re: How are we all doing in the heat
Do you not have the air con on Gemma love because it is too cold? It has been raining on and off here Gayle and is a lot cooler today I am pleased to say but it is very overcast too. I feel so sorry for the dear little plants and trees when they dry up. I hope more rain is on its way here.

Re: How are we all doing in the heat
I have never had anything nice to say about fans. Always thought they were a waste of time. Until this heat wave
My upstairs is ROASTING on the hotter days. M&J’s and N’s rooms are both at the rear of the house and that is south facing, so get ridiculously hot. I was so desperate to cool M&J’s room one day I borrowed a fan from my mum. What a difference it makes! When I take them down in the late afternoon I leave the curtains and blinds closed and turn the fan on. When the sun has dipped a good bit I open the blinds and curtains. The temperature difference between the 2 rooms is abundantly clear.
I’m also using frozen water bottles and an ice pod.
So I take back everything bad I’ve ever said about fans!
It has been a lot cooler here this weekend. We’ve had some thunder and lightening too.

I am very grateful for my fan which is on all night. I really couldn't sleep without it. Luckily it is a lot cooler here at the moment and long may it stay.

It has been nice and cool for sometimes here in Cornwall too hunni, quite a bit of rain too but I don't mind that. I don't know if we are due to have any more heatwaves this summer.

Rain over night and a grey, drizzly morning here. Oh, that wonderful rain. You can hear the earth sighing!

Re: How are we all doing in the heat
Rain here. I am not loving it! My mum’s friend gave us a pile of carrot tops and I’ve just been out in the pouring rain replanting them in my tubs because they’ll never get through them all.

Yeah... I know. My legs are bug-bitten from being out foraging and he never says "thanks". More often than not he noses through the heap of forage and hops off kicking his heels!

No rain here today but very overcast. As long as it isn't hot I can cope with it. Let's face it, we would do anything for our bunnies and they know this. We love doing it too.

It's been a OK here. We had a few thunderstorms but not a lot of rain .... enough to green things up again though. It's been fresher, thank goodness.

Re: How are we all doing in the heat
I am afraid I am happy if it is not hot hunny and you are right, it has been on the chilly side. Not August/September weather at all. Yes, Woodwench love, it has been nice and breathable here too but I have still had my fan on at night.
Well, we are now in the "BERS" my favourite time of year. I love Autumn, Winter, and Christmas.

From now to next May ... my favourite months/seasons. I'm not a fan of hot weather and this summer's heat added to what has been one of the worst summers of my life.

Re: How are we all doing in the heat
You are like me Woodwench love as I too hate the heat but also have a genuine love for the BER months. I didn't have a good Christmas last year though for the first time ever with Paul, I just hope that this year we can get on better but it has somehow spoiled it for me in a way which is a shame.
I am sorry you have had such a bad time sweetie with it being hot as well. Things should be nice and cool for us from now on.
