Blitzwing and teeth
So blitzwings teeth are not aligned properly and recently she had an eye infection and spent a day at Glasgow vet school.
My vet reffered her to Edinburgh exotics and she received a CT scan.
I got the results back and her front teeth are affecting her tear ducts at the front.
They have decided best course of action is to remove her teeth.
The CT scan also showed up a pocket on her lung a small one so they are not concerned.
One of her glands ( I think they said renal) is slightly swollen, which can be caused by stress or the start of cancer so in a few months she will get another scan to check the gland.

Re: Blitzwing and teeth
How is she getting on, do you have a date for the teeth removal?
Hopefully the swollen gland won't be anything to worry about

Re: Blitzwing and teeth
She had her teeth removed on Tuesday and she got home yesterday,
I don't think they assessed her pain medication right as they lowered it and then sent her home. She's not eaten anything on her own since she got home.
Think she still had some off the stronger stuff in her system when she first came home, she looked doped up and I could lift her without any snorting ( she hates been lifted) later on she was snorting when getting lifted which for her is normal
after work today if she still not eating on her own I'm going to phone them. Get her pain meds upped.
She has lost a lot of weight with it all,.really worrying.

Re: Blitzwing and teeth
So just back from emergency vets
They have upped medication she on gave her new stuff and strong very expensive stuff.
She on two types of gut stimulant. Two lots of pain medication and she had a pain Jag too. Eye drops and anti biotics.
So she currently stoned out her face.
If she was a human she would be your stereotypical junkie, standing on the corner with no teeth and absolutely wasted

Re: Blitzwing and teeth
She doing better.
They have found an abscess between the socket and the healed gum.
So she on long term antibiotics just now.
Waiting on refferal to Edinburgh but I get the feeling my vets have dropped the ball on it since that's been over a week now and I haven't heard anything yet.
She has been doing some much better back to playing with her toys and eating more normally now( all food chopped up).

Re: Blitzwing and teeth
Hi
Not been on for a while, been hectic.
Finally got a referral after a second visit to my local vet.
She developed a really bad infection in her mouth, got some new antibiotics and within 10days it was completely gone.
She has had another CT scan.
Pocket in her lung is stable the inflammed gland has increased by 1mm but it nothing to worry about.
Her mouth has heeled up lovely. They said she in fantastic condition for a nearly 7year old.
Weight back up.
Now she has no teeth she has decided everything goes in her mouth - walls, cables, shoes, granny and cupboard doors
Xx

Re: Blitzwing and teeth
Great news!
Could be the teeth probs were causing her upset stomach issues too.
Hope all continues OK and she as a nice, cosy, healthy winter.

Re: Blitzwing and teeth
Teeth wasn't causing the poo butts but do think the food was to rich for her,
She was swapped on cheap food and since then no issues so keeping fingers crossed.
Have tried the pro c, worked wonders for thundercracker but not difference in the madam.
Have came to the conclusion she is deaf tho, walked in to give her breakfast she didn't even notice. I was half way through mine before she realised I was in the same room
I did forget to say on the previous message.
That the shadow on her lung from the previous CT scan hasn't changed in size.
And the inflammed gland had only increased by a mm.
They did say for her age she is in remarkable shape other than being a big bunny( polite way of saying she fat )

Re: Blitzwing and teeth
Oh bless her! I think Molly was losing here hearing too but it was probably a blessing in my house.
Is she on mature food? I moved mine over from age 4. It’s not quite as rich for their tummies
