Help, Meg's not right! UD Back from Vets
Hi, I just went out to feed the buns and Meg is not herself
She is normally the first one in the food bowl but she is just sat hunched in the corner. She just went in her litter tray and did some squidgy poos!
Could it be anything to do with her VHD jab she had on Monday?

Re: Help, Meg's not right! UD Back from Vets
Hmm not sure.... are you working today, is there anyway you could bring her in to monitor her?
Re: Help, Meg's not right! UD Back from Vets
I would imagine that any effects from the VHD jab would have come and gone by now but that's just my thoughts.
I would keep a close eye on her. The caecotrophs are not necessarily a cause for alarm as she might have just overdone the greens last night and be producing more than she needs.
Either way I'd monitor her closely and if anything else is amiss take her to the vets...

Did she have anything extra or new in her greens last night? I would recommend bringing her inside if at all possible to keep an eye on her and keep her warm.
Does her tummy feel hard or extended? It sounds like she may be in pain from her position so a vets visit today wouldn't go amiss.

Hi, had to go to work for a couple of hours I bought her and Ben indoors before i went to keep her warm. She still doesn't look very happy and i don't think she has eaten. Her belly feels normal to me. I can't get into the vets till 6:10pm tonight. She doesn't look any worse but she's definately not a happy girl
Thanks for your replies xxx
ETA. She didn't have anything different to eat last night either.

Re: Help, Meg's not right! UD Back from Vets
Just got back from the vets. He said her stomach feels completely empty and she had lost weight since her VHD jab on Monday.
She has had fluids and gut stimulant and another jab but i'm not sure what that was. I've also got some recovery mix to give her which should be interesting. He also look in her mouth and said he could just see some sharp edges on her molars which could be the reason she stopped eating. So she is booked in for a dental Monday
Poor Meg Can we have lots of vibes please guys.

Hi everyone, thanks for your vibes!
Meg is picking at some hay this morning but she is still mot interested in her pellets which she normally can't get enough of!
Do i still need to syringe feed?

Re: Help, Meg's not right! UD Back from Vets
I woud guess that the other injection was most likely a painkiller but it could have been a an antibiotic.....would certainly be worth checking that she WAS given pain relief as she is unlikely to want to start eating other wise.
Have you tried mushing the pellets with some warm water? A favourite of Lexies' at the moment is pellets, porridge, hot water and a little Ribena mixed together.....easy on the Ribena because of the sugar though.

I called the vets and the other injection was not a pain killer
I have got some Metacam here but i wouldn't have a clue how much to give.

I would keep syringe feeding if you can't tempt her to eat... just to make sure the guts keep moving.
As for Metacam dosages I have no idea but I'm sure someone will...
Come on Meg, get troughing love!

Re: Help, Meg's not right! UD Back from Vets
How much does Meg weigh and is it the cat or dog metacam?
Re: Help, Meg's not right! UD Back from Vets
Its Dog Metacam.
The vet said she weighed 2.1KG yesterday.

Re: Help, Meg's not right! UD Back from Vets
For my buns about that weight the vets usually recommend three to four drops once a day for GI stasis. If she is doing small poo's some extra fluids will probably help her too.
Re: Help, Meg's not right! UD Back from Vets
Thanks Sooz.
She ate some pellets last night and this morning and she has been picking at hay and carrot tops but she still doesn't seem right
She has got her dental tomorrow so could it just be that her teeth are making her feel under par?
