Cream for sorehocks
Eclipse has sore hocks, which comes and goes. At the moment I am using sudocrem on them, but was wondering if there is anything else I can use that doesnt need a perscription from a vet? He is beded on vet bed with a thick layer of hay/straw and goes on grass regulary.

Re: Cream for sorehocks
Sorry don't know the answer Sarah, but would just like to say that I hope Eclipse's hocks recover soon. I am sure someone who knows will be along soon.

Re: Cream for sorehocks
If the skin is not broken then a haemmorhoid cream (seriously!!) such as Anusol can help. It has the added benefit of containing a local anaesthetic.
Dont use any of the preparations containg Hydrocortisone though.
Personally I always use Flamazine for my Rexes sore hocks. But it is a POM treatment.

I also use Sudocreme and if the hocks are very bad, as Pippa's were in her last few weeks, I apply a small circular padded plaster over them to help cushion the hock and alleviate some of the pressure.
If you chose to do this they need changing every day and you must insure you do not have the type of rabbit that likes to munch them.
