A little advice please
So I need some advice from all you bonding experts out there I've got Piper and Alfred still together but they still aren't really getting along. They still can't stand to be anywhere near each other They've been "bonding" going on the fifth day now but I haven't really seen any improvement. If Piper goes anywhere near Alfred he bolts and she chases and pulls out his fur. If Alfred happens to get too close to Piper she'll snap at him.
How long do I give it? I've left them unsupervised for a few hours and they've been just fine, they aren't really hurting each other they're just losing a lot of fur When do I accept defeat and admit that they'll never be friends? Is there something else I can do, change the situation at all that may work? HELP!!!

Re: A little advice please
What are the dimensions of the area you are using for bonding and did they go straight into this area when you started..
Re: A little advice please
The dimensions are about 3 ft x 2ft. I took them for a car ride in my bigger carrier for about an hour and left them in the carrier together for about an hour after that as well. I opened the carrier door and let them come out as they wished, but it probably took them about another half and hour to venture out.

Will be interesting to see how they get on after this adventure in the car.

This was when I first started the bonding, five days ago. Should I try the car thing again do you think?

Re: A little advice please
I would let them spend longer in the carrier. I start bondings in a carrier and the buns usually spend a period of 2-3 hours together in close proximity in it and then have 'time outs' together as needed.
Re: A little advice please
Ok I will definitely try that. I was thinking maybe I would try to make their bonding area smaller as well. I have a baby gate thingy I can block the are off with to make it a little cozier. Will give it a go!

Re: A little advice please
I've had a pair that took around 8 weeks to stop chasing each other, the trigger for them was feeding. In the end they were ridiculously devoted to each other.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Good luck to you Rice. It is such a horrible thing to see your buns tearing into each other, but it will be lovely when they are friends. Silly buns, you're trying to make them happier!!
