Wood Chips? Empty Wood Chips?

Post by Pipstrel Sat Feb 28, 2009 5:45 pm

Hope you guys can give me some advice.

The buns run had freshly laid turf last summer but its rubbish its all muddy and horrid and if I put grass seed on it it means they can't have their run for a couple of weeks.

The only thing I can think is to put wood chip down and grow them grass in tubs instead.

What kind of wood chips can I get and where can I get untreated ones from?

Thank you Very Happy

If it were me, I'd lay slabs instead, it's easier to keep clean and a lot of the buns prefer to lie on concrete than grass. You can still grow grass in pots or tubs to put in with them.

I wouldn't trust wood chips cos you don't know what type of trees it came from and you can't know for definate that it's not been treated.

I dont know anything about wood chips to be honest but if you want to put a hard floor on the run you could also possibly try laying a big thick piece of lino? And leave some muddy bits for them so they can choose where they prefer sitting.
