Gabriel, Gabriel - I am now grey.
This morning when I let out Herbie and Hollie, Herbie started to have a go at Hollie. He is a right pain with his referred aggression. I soon spotted the cause - Gabriel was sat in the rockery near H+H's run.
This was all my fault, I was so tired last night, and anxious about Nia eating, I couldn't have fastened the hutch door completely. Gabe had obviously forced it open, squeezed under the rain cover and had spent God knows how long in the garden, street or even the fields.
He then hopped jauntily along the front of the house, down the side back towards his hutch. As reinforcements had then arrived to help apprehend him he had no choice but to hop into his run. He was cross though, boxed and grunted at Louise when she tried to pick him up. He has filthy paws, smells of oil and will getting a flea check later.
He obviously knows which side his bread is buttered on not to wander off but I can't believe how fortunate I have been. I never would have forgiven myself if I had lost him. I just hope he is not going to get too frustrated now he is confined again

Theo, I can't tell you how awful I feel, how could I have been so stupid.
At the moment Gabe is cleaning his paws with Nia, who has obviously missed him, tweaking at his mane

Glad that he is back safe and sound albeit mucky. Life wouldn't be the same with Gabriel and his exploits.

Vanessa I know what you mean but don't beat yourself up about it, it was a mistake!!, you won;t do it again and you will make doubaly sure that everything is secure in future, he is safe and sound and none the worse for his adventure, I know how frightening it is though, but look on the positive side, he is back safe and sound, the little devil!!

Gabriel has had lots of attention, including a noserub from Jill and seems happy to be back with Noo. They have been snuggled together in their favourite basket. He has also given me a good grooming
Maybe he has realised just how scary it can be on his own out in the big wide world.
And yes from now on I will be triple checking catches and bolts.

Re: Gabriel, Gabriel - I am now grey.
Hmm - this morning he made a determined effort to barge past me when I opened the hutch door to put his breakfast in.
With the run cover in place he can then jump off it and without in place he jumps down into and then out of the run
I need to be like an octopus trying to contain him - he really is a monster and way too smart for his own good.

I live with one of those, it's a double edged sword isn't itSixer wrote: and way too smart for his own good.

Wolfie is a bit like that. He tries to barge out and will box and grunt. You just have to stand your ground and realise that he is going to do it every time. They really are little ratbags when they want! At least old Wolfers can't go very far as he can only escape to his compound, although he bolts for the burrow straightaway (which I have usually blocked first! He He Then I get really cross looks)
