Gabriel - need I say more.
Neighbour knocked on the door this morning.
Gabriel was running around on his front lawn
He had lifted his run, a temporary one, over the edge of the patio onto the soil and dug his way out
Little monkey was having a wonderful time and took some catching.
I have now reduced the size of the run so he can't do it again. Poor Chris is now going to have to find the time to make the permanent run to attach to the playhouse.
I am beginning to think I am not fit to look after Gabriel

That bunster! Oh i so love him and his antics!
He really is a rabbit genius, it was obviously a pre-planned escape!
I dont think there is a human in the world that could stop the little escapy monster! Hes just too clever, what chance does it give you.
You do a brilliant job with him. x x x x x x

Re: Gabriel - need I say more.
I understand you feel that way. I question my ability to be a mum sometimes (both a bunny mummy and a child mummy) and the job is made all the more harder by challenging bunnies and children. But you handled the situation really well. You got Gabriel back safely and have changed his run and plan to build a permanent one. All this is perfect That alone proves that you can handle situations the bunnies throw at you. Be proud of yourself for being a wonderful bunny mummy xx

Re: Gabriel - need I say more.
I read that first sentence as, "Garbiel knocked on our door this morning" ... and the really funny thing is it seemed like a completely normal statement.
Don't blame yourself. His escaping antic are proof of how happy he is. He clearly loves life. He just thinks it's a game: You build him something and he works until he escape, then he celebrates by running around the lawn! Then you put him in his newly secured cage and the game starts all over again.

Re: Gabriel - need I say more.
I'd love to see him and my Missy together - she is such a Houdini flirt!!! She would shift her run to get out, just over 5ft fences, destroy the conecting ties, dig out of her hutch - all sorts I swear if ever the two of them met - no one would stand a chance!!!
I understand how you feel I still wake up to find madam running round the garden wondering how on earth she got out!! But i believe some bunnies are like that, and he has his home with you, he is happy else you wouldn't still have him - Missy was picked up as a stray, i truely believe she just wasn't happy, and left - I believe if she wasn't happy with me she would of gone already - she is perfectly capable of it - So that fact he is still with you (despite being a cheeky monster) is testament to the fantastic home and life you give him

Re: Gabriel - need I say more.
Again, thank you for your support and your kind words
Can you tell I am having a crappy day?
I do worry that one day Gabriel will escape and vanish for good
On a happier note Miss Noo has ventured out if the playhouse today

Re: Gabriel - need I say more.
YAYYYY for Noo!
The buns will always find a way to make us worry, no matter how brilliant we are. They will always plot to outwit us completely unbothered by the sleepless nights they give us.
Gabe knows where his bread is buttered - he's certainly clever enough to know where he is best off.

Re: Gabriel - need I say more.
My lot regularly escape from their runs and they usually hang around the garden. Our first rabbit Holly was loose for about a week until we managed to trap her back in the hutch. She missed her pellets. They always miss something and come back and get caught. I think Customs & Excise catch people the same way, come home because they miss HP sauce.

Re: Gabriel - need I say more.
HP sauce!
Well Gabriel has been thwarted this morning. He rushed out of the wendy house for a bit of run shifting but as well as making it a tad smaller I have placed bricks round the edge so he can't move it. He was not impressed - just hope he doesn't damage his teeth in trying.
I cannot believe how much he had moved the run to get out yesterday
A new cardboard house has just arrived in the post for him and Noo so hopefully this will distract him for a while

Re: Gabriel - need I say more.
I stumbled out of bed this morning and walked straight to the kitchen to put on my coffee. I passed tori snuggled up on the couch and then said hello to Hippo who was happily hopping around the kitchen...
WAIT A MINUTE!! What is Hippo doing out of his cage?
I went to the cage and everything was locked and secured. I have no clue how he got out. The cage is 3 NIC cubes high. He can just manage to get over 2 so I thought 3 was plenty.
Maybe he climbed the bars? ... oh god, that was a funny thought until I realized the implications!
Vanessa... I have loads of sympathy for you. At least if Hippo gets out the worst he can do is damage to my abode. I can imagine how stressful it must be when Gabe manages to take off outdoors! I think the clear cut difference between the two of them is that Gabriel strategically escapes while Hippo accidentally escapes.

Re: Gabriel - need I say more.
Well I've come home now to find Izzy gone - she has to be somewhere in this house, but somehow she got over or through the gate between me leaving for work, and me getting home!!! I just hope she hasn't destroyed anything - else I'm dead
Re: Gabriel - need I say more.
Well done Hippo. I don't think that was an accident at all! I bet that now he has done it once it will be a regular occurance These bunsters can be quite ingenious when they put their mind to it
Kirsty, hope Izzy turns up soon.
As for Gabriel, I have had to take more measures. The little tike had lifted the run onto the bricks, thankfully I saw his handiwork before he escaped again

I blocked every imaginable and unimaginable escape route before I went to work. I came home to find him out of the cage and under the desk, totally passed out. I actually thought he was hurt as I couldn't imagine him having successfully gotten out of the fortification without some serious harm.
The only thing hurt was his feelings. All the blankets were pulled though the bars from the outside, so he had clearly been trying to get back in. Apparently, I personally offended him by making the secret passage way 1-way only.
He's since been let back in the cage and is in the corner sulking.
Brynn is also miffed at me. She clearly assumes this is favourtism towards the hipster!
Kristy, Hope you find Izzy soon. Also hope no damage has been done!
Vanessa, if you figure out any fool proof bunny keeping tips let me know! What are we going to do with these boys?

Hippo Oh my, oh my
Lindsay, I think you need to install a webcam so we can see what he is up to Gabriel will be very impressed
You don't leave a blanket or a mat over the sides of the panels do you? Both Herbie and Hollie have climbed out of outdoor runs using a mat I had pegged over the side to provide shade.
You have one very athletic, and smart bunny in Hippo

I DO! I hung up a towel that they had spilled their water dish all over. Maybe you've figured it out!!!! What would I do without HH?
If this doesn't work I'm going to have to invest in a webcam for real!
