hi everyone
could anyone give me some advice on how to stop a rabbit from thumping? my new rabbit does it A LOT during the night and i dont know if its because he's nervous from being in a new environment or due to boredom as i keep him in his cage at night. he seems pretty chilled during the day when he's out and about tho sometimes he does get a little scared when someone comes into the room when hes not expecting it and runs to his little hideaway and does a few thumps. can anyone help me?
cheers!

I think it will be nerves. Maybe when the house is quiet at night and does it regular creaks and groans, he is getting scared by them as he isn't used to them. It should definately settle down. Thumbs Up

It's quite normal, until he gets used to the sounds around him and the movements, he'll be on alert, and one use of thumping is to warn other buns of danger. try talking to him before you approach him, they don't have the best eyesight, so at least he'll know you're coming and won't be scared.

Mine thump when nervous or unhappy about something, so probably he's just nervous.

How long have you had him?

Can you put something familiar in the cage with him to help him settle? Is the cage in the room he is used to during the day.

Good luck, hope he settles soon.

Not really because its all a completely new environment with new toys and everything since he didnt have anything to start with. The cage is an indoor one in my room which he roams around anyway. I tried letting him loose all night to see if that might help and it seems to have sorted it a lot! he only did it twice last night and has been v good. Had a bit of a fright at one point tho, found him next to me on my bed the cheeky sod.
