update on Noisette
Hi guys, I wrote out about 4 paragraphs yesterday to update you on Noisette, but then my hand slipped and pressed the back button so lost it all
but, she is improving daily! Her eating is still a little bad, but she's recovering from statis rather well! she's eating quite a bit of hay, pellets and cabbage, but she's not really touching anything else, not even the CC or science recovery I left her. I have tried most foods - baby food, mushed pellets, porridge... list goes on but she sticks up her nose to it.
As for her abcess, its slightly bigger now, but the vet said to carry on treatment and then think about draining it. I'm currently injecting her with depocillin every other day! However, she has got quite a bit of muscle wastage on the back leg where the abcess is... can anyone give me any advice for this please? She is putting weight on it now, which is excellent, as before she refused to put it on the ground, and hopped about on 3 paws. I'm giving her less painkiller now, becuase I noticed it zonked her out (being opiate drug) and it made her sleep constantly.
She is so underweight right now, and I just cannot wait for her to be better to have a dental! I honestly think it will help with her statis problems, and she can finally eat properly!
I'm going away again, to Istanbul in a week and a half, and I am terrified to leave her!

Re: update on Noisette
I'm glad to hear she's improving J. Maybe discuss with the vet syringe feeding her oats/recovery etc? If you cut off the end of a fat syringe, you could put some soaked oats/recovery/mashed SS pellets etc in some water in there and syringe feed her?
The muscle wastage will most likley only get better with use, if she's started to put her leg down, then it will start to get exercise. Over time the imbalance will correct itself.
You're doing a great job Janak

Re: update on Noisette
sorry! have been rather inactive on here again, as usual .
She is improving by leaps and bounds! Jay, I have been syringing her CC and science recovery, but it just oozes out of her mouth, no matter what position I am holding her in. She just point blank refuses to take it! However, she is improving LOADS now, muching away on grass and her favourite veggies. I can see a drastic difference in her belly size from when she had statis, to now, she is a little piggy However, she has STILL lost weight, so now I am just chucking loads of food at her, I mean anything that she will eat and gorge on (oatabixs, wheetabix, barley rings etc etc)
Seeing the vets again, and they said she doesn't need to have her abcess drained, becuase she is responding very well to the depocillin injections, so will continue on it. She's now on metacam, instead of the opiate drug, becuase I said the pain is visibly less on her, and she constantly sleeps with the opiate.
I've been on head massage duty with her, and I am sure is getting ill on purpose just to get these especially
