fighting
Hi All, Bonnie & Clyde had a big fight last night don't know how it started but it ended with bonnie getting a cut lip, thought it was clyde at first because he was covered in blood but he seems to have only a minor scratch the blood must have come from bonnie. We separated them over night and have just reintroduced them no more fighting yet but bonnie does seem apprehensive and a little scared. Do you think they will carry on fighting? or is it just them settling down into a new home? They are only quite young do you think it's possible that they won't get on as they gat older? Any suggestions welcome!!

Re: fighting
Hmmm, have they both been neutured yet? Are they male and female? Are they related? How old are they?
Re: fighting
Hi yes both neutered approx. 6/7 months and I believe they are from the same litter although cannot be sure. It seems that Bonnie the female was the more dominant to begin with but now it looks like Clyde the male may be top bunny!! They are fine together now been grooming for a few hours! But I need to go out this afternoon and don't want to have to separate them. It looked like clyde this morning was sniffing around Bonnie ( i.e for mating possibly ) and Bonnie didn't want to know.

Re: fighting
Right, I am guessing then that it was possibly just a lovers tiff. They happen sometimes in my male and female pair. The only pairs, ironically, that I find settle after the initial aggro, are male pairs lol! It is the age old rule males and females, can't live with each other and can't live without each other.
I would see how it goes. Obviously if it is something that becomes a regular occurence then things need to be re examined.
Harmonious vibes coming your way! If they are happy atm, then I would say leave them together this afternoon even when you are out. x

Re: fighting
Glad to hear they are more settled now
Something may have spooked them Our Herbie sometimes gets aggressive when he feels threatened.
Sending lovey-dovey vibes for Bonnie and Clyde.

Re: fighting
Hi all thanks foe the replies they seem fine again now Clyde has the occasional nip/sniff of Bonnie's tail and she scoots around to get away but they are cuddled up to each other and seem happy so hopefully just a lovers tiff like you say! I was really worried about Bonnie's lip but she is eating and drinking normally and it doesn't seem to be causing her any bother so will just keep my eye on it.

Re: fighting
Yeah it should heal up by itself... Glad they seem to be ok. They will get through this hormonal time xxx
Re: fighting
Has anything changed recently in their envirnonment (new hutch, run, area, toys) or have you had any new rabbits visit or come to stay....
Re: fighting
Hi they are new rabbits we have only had them a couple of weeks so I suppose everything is new to them (except each other) I'm sure it was just a tiff prob due to the stress of new home etc... they thankfully seem to have calmed down alot.

Re: fighting
That would seem the most likely explanation. Thankfully at this time of year they become more settled naturally (post-breeding season, even neutered rabbits still react to changes in temperature and daylight hours) so by the spring when most 'tiffs' occur they will be perfectly settled in.
Re: fighting
Hope it was a one-off spat.
