Conference notes re: 6 month Myxi boost
Before I take Berts for his 6 month booster, does anyone have the RWAF conference notes about making the 6 month booster standard practice, and could you e-mail me the relevant page - or could you let me know which conference it was so i can tell my vets to have a look?
I cannot stand the looks of bewilderment that i get, coupled with the slighlty sarcastic overtones each time I take him, and I'd like to show them or tell them why. It was suggested to me last time that there is absolutely no need for it to be 6 months, and I was overly worried
e-mail is websighs@yahoo.co.uk
Thanks

Let me just have a look, I have a copy of the conference notes here but they are Vet Stream not Owners and may not have included that lecture....I would say for obvious reasons but perhaps not if your vets still need proof!
Re: Conference notes re: 6 month Myxi boost
Sorry Jay, it must have been Owner Stream. However it actually says, preprinted, inside Juno's vaccination record that myxi vaccinaion should be every six months and I believe the Nobivac leaflet does too. There must be some convincing literature online.
ETA: Nobivac Myxomatosis Data-Sheet

As an aid in the prevention of myxomatosis in rabbits.
Onset of immunity: The onset of immunity was established as two weeks after vaccination.
Duration of immunity: The duration of immunity was established as 6 months.

That's brilliant Sooz, cheers I'll see if Anne has the Owner stream.
The vets we use are pretty good in the main, but they have small & exotics accreditation, and seem behind on this sort of stuff. One of them still gives the Myxi jab in 1 place, so i always try to go in armed Cheers

I've never had a reminder for the 6 monthly Myxi just the annual VHD & Myxi boosters but they do recommend bi-annual vaccinations.
