Gnaw stone.
My George has taken to ripping appart the carpet, he digs at it then starts to tug until he has ripped off a bit. I did expect this to start at somepoint but hoped to have a toy or two to distract him. I have been looking everywhere for a "gnaw stone" or something else for him to chew. I found a few gnaw stones eg: here but they were quite expencive to ship. Does anyone know of any other chewing and digging toys? I love my bun to death but I do like the carpet too!
Thank you for the help!!

Re: Gnaw stone.
Norty George... I'm afraid it's part of the housebunny experience
Is this when he's unsupervised? You need to teach him the 'no' or 'leave' command, a loud clap after saying 'no' is usually quite effective, as buns don't like sudden noises. Then you could give him something else to do, to show him another way. You could get a diggin box set up.
Toys are a good idea, as we've already discussed, but that doesn't mean he'll always play with them, and he'll still want to dig, because it's in their nature.
Perhaps limit his space when he's out of his cage, and supervise him. If it's corners he's going for, put porcelain tiles or carpet tiles in them. There's lots of info on those videos I posted about on your previous toys thread that should help.
Gnaw stones - it depends on the bun, he may not use it at all, and it still may not deter him from wanting to dig and chew.
willow sticks from P@H are good, they can throw them around, or if you hold one to his mouth, he may start chewing that.
Good luck!

Re: Gnaw stone.
Im sorry to say that no end of toys could distract daisy from removing fibres from my rug. . . it wasnt becuase he was bored (because he'll do it blatantly when im playing with him)...and it wasnt because he didnt have anything to chew (because there is nothing he doesnt have).
Im afraid he just does it because he likes it!
Jays advice is the best. Say No in a firm voice and clap hands...... It is definately all part of the house bunny experience.

Re: Gnaw stone.
I've used the gnaw stones from the naturals range (sold in P@H) and most of my rabbitshave used and seemingly enjoyed them. I would warn though tht they come with metal ties to attatch them to the side of the cage and I thought these a little dangerous so removed them as best I could.
Sadly, no guarantee they will stop your bun from chewing on other things that he shouldn't. Our YouTube site has a couple of great videos on bunnyproffing and deterring destructive behaviour that you may want to watch.

Haha. Oh well. My bunny is worth more than a carpet. I need to get him a gnaw stone or something else anyway (for his teeth). Thank you all anyway!
