feeling a bad mummy Empty feeling a bad mummy

Post by FudgesMummy Wed Feb 03, 2010 11:13 am

well fudge has made me feel a really bad bunny mummy...... Rolling Eyes

managed to get him snuggled in his fleecey today and thought great will do his nails...they are definately ready for a trim-managed to do his left hand side paws and checked his teeth before he launched himself out the blankie, off my knee and onto the floor where his scampered off with spectacular heel flicks of disgust!

most of his care I manage as a single bun-mum...however his teeth need snipping again (his front teeth overgrow due to jaw now matching up) and this is defiantely a two person job..I managed just fine before my friend moved to the middle of the south atlantic...last time he needed doing Liz next door popped around to hold him but that was only on the 22nd! He is ready for doing again-just feel awful asking her...

his pedipaw is definately easier to do with help but I just dont seem to have anyone really reliable-I can't keep imposing nor can I afford to pay the vet to do it Crying or Very sad

His highness is now sat underneath the sofa giving out the occassional thump of disgust!

perhaps I am just a rubbish mummy.... HBWS Crying or Very sad

UPDATE-to show his utter annoyance he has managed to get in the hall and return with a huge piece of wallpaper in his mouth!!! HBWS Evil or Very Mad Hissy

Aw, You are not a bad bunny mummy. If I lived closer I would come and help you. Gizmo does the disgusted heel flicks even if I just pick him up for a cuddle! xxx

I'm a single bunny mummy too but until now my buns have been outdoor buns so haven't needed their nails cut very often. I did get a friend to help me once but it was so traumatic as he isn't used to buns, that I wouldn't do it again.

As George is an indoor bun I expect I am going to have the problem of what to do when his nails need trimming. There is no way I could manage alone - he is very jumpy when handled. I will probably have to take him to my vet and hope that as I am such a good customer - with eight cats and four bunnies - that he will do them free or for very little.

He seems very understanding and only charged me £10 to do a dental for Dylan and remove an abscess as I had just saved up to get my outdoor three vaccinated when the dental was advised during Dylan's check-up.

My outdoor buns are much easier to handle but even with them I couldn't cut their nails on my own.

You're not a bad bunny mummy - you are doing your best. A bad bunny mummy would let the nails grow until they were causing Fudge pain.

Aw, Kelly of course you're not a bad bunny mummy. I'm sure if any of us lived close by we would be round at yours like a shot!

It knocks your confidence though, when you can't deal with things like this, doesn't it? Sad I couldn't have managed with Rosie on my own, so admire anyone who does.

I'm sure your neighbour wouldn't mind helping out - Fudge is so adorable that she'd be glad too, I'm sure.
