feeling a bad mummy :(
hiya
Im feeling a rubbish Mummy to Fudge...on Saturday I had to give him a bath as he was matted and little bit smelly with tiddle staining-as a dental bunny it would seem that doing around his boy bits gets a bit beyond him.I gave him a good wash, brush and snipped away what I could matted fur wise...all has been well the last few days and today picked him up for a cuddle and bum check to be presented with a patch of pink skin devoid of fur...it isn't a blister and when you touch it he doesn't express disdain or pain (well no more disdain that expected when your mum inspects your boy bits)...we are heading to the vets shortly just to get it checked out and see if they can further dematt him....I feel so rubbish....

These things happen. Fudge was unlikely to advertise that his bits were smelly! You are a really good, loving companion to fudge and we all know that he loves you very much.

You're a wonderful mum to fudge, you love him so much, give him everything he wants and needs - he is a very lucky bunny!
Hope all is well and you feel better soon

Re: feeling a bad mummy :(
Hello
Sorry for the lack of a proper update-Ive been floored again so Im off to the brain v.e.t on Tuesday!
Anyhow enough about me...took Fudge to see uncle Jim on Tuesday...he wasn't concerned about mxyi but did mention Syphilis and the alarm bells started ringing! Thankfully it isnt!! Seems it is just irritation...Jim got out the clippers to dematt the little man and have a good look around but inadvertently managed to nick his skin...we then had to trim his fur and hold him just right so Jim could glue him back together!!! Fudge at this point is laid in my arms with his boy bits on show to the entire world giving the most disapproving bunny look going! Once stuck back together Jim did a general health check and did his Mxyi booster. He had a press around his bladder and came across some tenderness which may explain the staining/scalding...so given he had also broken the skin we've got Baytril and have to go back in two weeks for another check over and Fudge's VHD booster.
Whilst there Jim gave Fudge a good brush with something called a Furminator...I've managed to source one a small cat for £10!Have given him a few brushes and we are gradually getting rid of the stained and matted fur...the joys of him being a dental bunny means that he can't groom properly and given my recent house guests who kept sticking my heating in we had coat confusion! He couldn't decide what he should be wearing-whether his winter or spring ensemble which didn't help with the mattedness and there were huge clumps of confused fur!
Fudge is better in himself, taking his anti-biotics without fuss in mini-shredded wheats and happily takes a probiotic sprinkled on his greens/nana etc...
I feel less less a rubbish bunny mummy but the £42 these events ahve cost me has really affected finances-thank goodness Im brazen and not afraid to ask for a few freebies (veg/fruit stall in town being one of them!)

Re: feeling a bad mummy :(
Oh furminators are fantastic. They get rid of so much fur... I highly recommend them.
I'm glad to hear Fudge is doing OK and hopefully the tenderness will subside in a few weeks.
