advice on leaving bun home alone
Hi,
We're away for 28 hours at the end of the month, and Bertie can't go into digs for the night. Here's what we're thinking of doing. We have an automatic feeder for him, which serves up to 4 meals
We use it when we're out cycling for the day, in case we have a problem when we're out or an accident etc, and he has access to food. I'm not concerned about the feeder, it's brilliant, works and is bunnyproof
We're leaving on the Saturday, about 10 am, and returning about 2pm on the sunday. Bun savvy neighbour is coming to sit with him for a couple of hours in the evening, and she'll also make sure he's had his food and meds ok. I have a non-bunny savvy neighbour popping in on Sunday morning to check he's had his food and meds too. He has the others number, and will call her if there's any probs.
He will be alone overnight, which doesn't worry me from a health POV, because he hasn't been unwell for 5 months, his GI's fine and he's fit as a fiddle at the mo, but do you think that's gonna be enough company for him? I may be overly concerned (?), but we've never left him before, so I'd appreciate any input/other suggestions, thanks

Re: advice on leaving bun home alone
Maybe leave the radio on on a talk channel so he can hear voices. I am sure that he will be absolutely fine and that you wll worry about him more than he will worry about you. As long as he has some toys and food he'll be OK and he will have a bit of human contact. My buns generally see me in the morning and again at night so it is probably about the same as Bertie will have.

Re: advice on leaving bun home alone
Im sure he will be fine Jay its only one day and he is in his own surroundings with his own things.
I always leave the radio on for daisy so there is background noise and to drown out the sound of anything that might sound scary to him.
He'll snuggle up to Nookie Bear, and he'll be absolutely fine.

I too am sure Bertie will be fine, Jay. With peoples popping in he shouldn't be too lonely.
Best keep him off the internet tho, you don't want him inviting all and sundry round for a party!
Am loving the timed feeder - so much more stylish than the one I bought 20 odd years ago for the kittens I had then

I think id prob let Daisy go to berties party - he comes accross as a well behaved - well rounded bunny, so long as naughty gabriel and wolfie arnt allowed and daisy is home by 10 O'clock he can go.

It's brilliant, and it plays a recorded message (from us) each time it opens a new tray So there's us going "Bertie, Bertie, Dinner" and the sound of us, shaking his tub with pellets in it to get him to come and eatSixer wrote:Am loving the timed feeder - so much more stylish than the one I bought 20 odd years ago for the kittens I had then

Poor Wolfie, he is always getting led astray by that Gabriel. I'm going to stop him seeing him.

Re: advice on leaving bun home alone
I loooooove it!
I have this hilarious image of a remake in my mind. The recording is Jay saying "Lindsay, Lindsay dinner time" and then it opens up to like a steak dinner and I hop over and start eating it.
Haa...
I'm weird... I know, but you know it would be funny!

Oh my god what an awesome device ! I might have to think about using it instead of getting my mum to feed them when I am away

Re: advice on leaving bun home alone
Did i hear something about a party? Tuffers has been moaning that he never gets out, i'll let him know! Is it the usual rules? You know, no chewing the dancefloor, bring your own carrot and the popping of yogurt drops unsupervised is stricly prohibited? No worries, he'll be there!

Re: advice on leaving bun home alone
You seemed to have some great plans in place for caring for your little guys while you were away.
I hope plenty of people follow your caring example!
