Has Anyone Read?????

The Stories Rabbits Tell: A Natural and Cultural Histry of a Misunderstood Creature.

Sooz let me borrow it last time I nipped in. Its a realy interesting read. Some parts of it are a bit harrowing and I personally have skipped those parts (hunting, meat, fur and animals testing). However the other parts of the book are fascinating and rabbits are perfectly depicted and portrayed. There are lots of stories about "difficult" rabbits and how their problems have been overcome. There are some real heart warming moments. The book also gives a fascinating insight into the history of pet keeping and how it came about. It drives home the rough deal rabbits have had too, being stuck between wild and domestic and goes on to explain just how different wild and domestic buns are. A very good read. Anyone else read it?

I have read some of it but like you I skipped the 'nasty' bits.
I really need to read it again but at the moment I find concentrating on a book impossible

That sounds like a very interesting read, have seen it on amazon, think it's on my wishlist!

Currently reading Rabbits: Gentle Hearts, Valiant Spirits... so far it's very emotional and lovely, have already cried and laughed out loud, don't think I'm even on the second chapter!

Oooh yeah I will. I have to take it in small doses as it gets me down. Is your book a tear jerker? Last night I read this bit about to domestic babies who had been dumped and had gone wild, although they weren't able to really survive alone. So this woman was going to them with food daily. It talked about how tame they got. Then one went missing for a few days and when he re appeared, he had a huge abscess. He was eventually put down. It talked about how the other one mourned and how they had tried to tell her that this one was ill. It was so sad and had me in tears last night. Makes me want to snugggle my bunnies.
