Our Big Brave Girl

Lily-Hope came into our lives so very unexpectedly, she was around 12-18months old and during that short life had experienced unimaginable pain, discomfort and suffering, she had never known love and didn't even have the basics like food and water, she was emaciated and dreadfully underweight together with numerous injuries and ailments.

Losing Lily-Hope has totally devastated us both, we are distraught, we have never felt like this when we have lost a bunny before, it just seems so very tragic. I certainly was not prepared for what happened when I took her to see the specialist, driving home for 2.5 hours with an empty carrier, in the pouring rain, in the dark and crying all the way back, I really don't know how I did it, it was horrendous having to make that decision, I was there on my own and I felt so alone. I hope that one day I can think about her without crying and having that feeling of utter despair, I feel so damned useless because I couldn't get her better although I know we tried our best.

Lily-Hope, you were one of the most beautiful bunnies ever, you had a fabulous nature and you were so gentle, you really deserved much better than you got, I cannot believe how you trusted us with your intensive treatment after everything that you had been through, you never complained, you never flinched, you accepted that I was trying to help you.

You were with us for 5 weeks and 5 days and we have never had a bunny make such an impact on us, you didn't just sneak in to out hearts, you came in and trampled all over us and left huge footprints in our hearts, we will never, ever forget you Lily-Hope, I just wish I could have done something to help you, all I wanted was to nurse you back to health so as you had some good quality time being a bunny before you left for the bridge but that wasn't to be. We loved you so much and you will always be with us. Lily-Hope, you are now free at the bridge, I really hope that you are safe and free from pain.

We love you so very much and always will, we miss you terribly, have fun at the bridge sweetheart, go and find all the others and tell them we love them, sleep tight Lily-Hope xxxx

A lovely tribute, to a very special lady. Sometimes animals come into our lives to shine a light and help us to learn, and these buns are exceptional, and endure more than most to help us.
They are Angels, and Lily-Hope was an Angel.

I am so sorry that it didn't work out for Lily-Hope and for you and Roy. It is gut wrenching when you invest so much emotion in an animal that just can't manage to get better.

I am sure that the few short weeks that she had with you were the happiest that she had ever experienced. In that small space of time, she was able to feel love, care and happiness. It will have made her passing easier because when that sad time came around, she was with someone who loved and cared for her and would mourn her.

Much nicer than her being left in a hutch and being found dead the next day.

What you gave to her was priceless - her self-respect.

Lily-Hope was a beautiful girl.

Thank you to you and Roy for giving her the love and care in her last few weeks that she should have received throughout her life.
